The 3DS’s circle pad actually works as an input for regular DS games. I’ve found that it’s bothersome to use it for games like Pokemon HeartGold, but it improves the control in Mario Kart DS. The circle pad is easily on my list of the top three best features of the Nintendo 3DS. Has anyone else discovered a DS game that plays better thanks to the circle pad?
I do love creatin’ Miis. A reader asked how to get the Mii Beatles shown in a recent post, so I’ve gathered the fab four along with some cartoon sleuths, my favorite President, a boy wizard and a few surprise guests to mingle with Derek, David, Eugene and your own Mii! And, yes, I know Daphne’s not very accurate, but dang, that’s a difficult one to Mii-ize!
After one week on North American store shelves, Nintendo is already reporting record sales for 3DS. Can the same be said for software sales? Read on to find out!
I repeatedly said I would never, ever, spend more cash to buy a case for the 3DS. But it’s so shiny…and I’m carrying it to work every day…and I really don’t want to scratch the outer lenses…
We’ve entered a new era, and glasses-free 3D is now a very real option for modern gameplay. Nintendo’s 3DS launch lineup presents a wide range of approaches in utilizing the new feature, with varying results. Based on extensive time with much of the lineup, here are my entirely subjective pretend-awards for best uses of the third dimension:
Seriously, try blowing on the screen when you’re in the main menu on the 3DS!

And if you haven’t seen all the AR Games including with the 3DS, you need to watch his smile-inducing sample of ’em all. See also: Part 2 Part 3
Of all the programs that the activity log in my 3DS has logged me using, the Mii Maker and Mii Plaza have gotten the least attention. To remedy the situation, I thought I would give out my Mii QR code to anyone who cared to have it. I’m not sure if my Mii looks entirely like a spitting image of the real Eugene, (my hair is at least 3 times the length), but good enough I suppose. I hope...
It’s been one week since the 3DS was released to the masses. For 7 days now I have raided faces and turned my table into a shooting gallery, much to the curiosity of my cats. How do I feel about my Nintendo 3DS after one week? Click on to find out!
I’ll try to keep this post from turning into a nauseating flood of gushing praise; after all, nothing’s perfect and the 3DS has some problems we’re all aware of’some temporary, some probably permanent. In the past week, however, I’ve experienced more wonderment and surprise from this little handheld than I’ve ever gotten from my first days with any other gaming device...
– This strikes me more as non-news, but apparently the fact that Sony and Microsoft create phones meant someone felt it would be pertinent to hound Nintendo about whether they’ll be dabbling in non-gaming tech such as cell phones themselves. To my endless relief, the answer was a resounding no, with Reggie Fils-Aime stating “We have no desire to get into telephony.” I say, ...
Mii. As in, me. That’s a play on words, see. If you’d like to raise the bar’if not the battery life’for your Nintendo 3DS, consider adding the ginger half of Infendo Radio to your fancy new handheld. Thanks to the wonders of UPC QR codes, you can import my Mii, giving you a visual aid for the magic we weave via the podcast medium. That is, if you want to. I’m having too much fun ...
