Uh oh. Last Story sales are slumping abroad

So if you haven’t heard, Mistwalker’s newest game The Last Story is out in Japan. The sales numbers show that the game had a great first week, where it sold 118,953 units and was #1 on the Japanese sales charts. Week two for The Last Story wasn’t so great with sale dropping 99K and coming in at #7. What does this mean to us English speaking folks who really, really really want to...

Which had the better fifth year: Wii or GameCube?

The Wii is in its fifth year of life. After a strong fourth year, things have slowed a bit lately, thanks in part to the usually slow winter months. That said, how would you compare Wii’s fifth year to the GameCube’s fifth year (2006)? Although still early, I’d say it’ll end up being much better. You?

Review – Jam City Rollergirls is an impressive WiiWare accomplishment

The first thing that struck me about Frozen Codebase’s new WiiWare title, Jam City Rollergirls, is that they crammed a lot into the restrictive file size of the Wii Shop Channel. For a game that combines Mario Kart [racing and power up items], Tony Hawk [skating and tricks], and roller derby action, they also managed to implement a rudimentary character generator for customization. Sure, it&...

Still don’t believe Apple is giving Nintendo a run for it’s money? Read this.

Although they admit the “average iPhone/iPad gamer is more interested in pleasantly passing time than being intellectually engaged or challenged,” indie darlings and World of Goo creators 2D Boy view App Store games as the future of video games. At least the kind of games they make ’ really awesome and clever puzzle games. To whit: World of Goo’s launch on iPad gave us a new pers...

Did you buy Rhythm Heaven for DS? Would you support a U.S. release of the Wii sequel?

Rhythm Heaven, one of the DS’s funniest and most original games, is getting a Wii follow-up in Japan. I’ve got my fingers crossed for a North American release. U.S. sales of Rhythm Heaven didn’t reach Brain-Age level heights, despite a cute marketing campaign featuring Beyonce. How many of you out there bought this terrific Music Game/Warioware hybrid?

Are you buying Mario Sports Mix on Sunday?

Old-school Kirby game coming to Wii this year

Unveiled today by Nintendo. According to Wired, it’ll be a throwback Kirby. You know, the kind where you inhale enemies, assume their powers, then us it against them. Nintendo did not give an exact date, but confirmed it would arrive this year, most likely this holiday.

Interview with Lead Programmer of new WiiWare title Jam City Rollergirls

We get a lot of information from publishers about new games, but the press release from Frozen Codebase about their new WiiWare title Jam City Rollergirls caught my eye. The company is based out of Green Bay, Wisconsin, which is near to my hometown, and the game is the first roller derby video game I can remember seeing since RollerGames was on TV back in the 80’s. I contacted the company wi...

Be excited. Be very, very excited!

With Nintendo announcing its 3DS plans this Wednesday, it’s time to start saving your pennies for the greatest Nintendo gaming system yet. Ever since news broke of the 3DS, I have been foaming at the mouth for any little rumor, spec sheet or screen shot of anything 3DS related. Here’s why:
