Mounted plasma on the wall, who’s the biggest fan of all?

Over the years, Nintendo fans (especially children of the 80s who were growing up right as the NES was released) have amassed quite the impressive collection of systems, games, controllers, and other peripherals. Some would call this business I’ve got going on here a veritable shrine to gaming greatness. When I got to thinking about it, I realized that I’ve never met another female wit...

Iwata Asks sparks an Infendo question

In a recent edition of the Iwata Asks series, Satoru Iwata interviews Hisashi Koinuma of Tecmo Koei.  In edition to talking about the upcoming 3DS game Samurai Warriors Chronicles, they also chatted up a bit about how Koinuma was introduced into gaming. His story got me thinking about how I first became interested in video games. My first memories of anything relating to video games is from my da...

10 things Nintendo needs to get right on their next console

With the launch of the 3DS getting closer, it got me thinking of what I want in my new Nintendo console and eventual Wii replacement. I’ll be the first person in the room to tell you the Wii is a great console, but I’m certainly going to be the first person in line at Best Buy when they start selling whatever it is that Nintendo has up their sleves to be the successor to the Wii. That ...

Battlesuit Mario goes to war

A rebranding kinda sorta worked for The Big Mouse in Disney’s Epic Mickey, but would it work for Mario? This, dear readers, is the question I ponder today as I look over this impressive Mecha Mario battle suit artwork over at Cool Vibe this morning. An even closer look at artist Marat Ars’s new suit design—and new look—is available in that second link. Clicky clicky!

Uh oh. Last Story sales are slumping abroad

So if you haven’t heard, Mistwalker’s newest game The Last Story is out in Japan. The sales numbers show that the game had a great first week, where it sold 118,953 units and was #1 on the Japanese sales charts. Week two for The Last Story wasn’t so great with sale dropping 99K and coming in at #7. What does this mean to us English speaking folks who really, really really want to...

Which had the better fifth year: Wii or GameCube?

The Wii is in its fifth year of life. After a strong fourth year, things have slowed a bit lately, thanks in part to the usually slow winter months. That said, how would you compare Wii’s fifth year to the GameCube’s fifth year (2006)? Although still early, I’d say it’ll end up being much better. You?

“Unlicensed” Great Gatsby NES obviously a hoax, loaded with effort

Some guy claims to have found this unlicensed Great Gatsby game at a garage sale for $.50. He then posted a bunch of suspect-looking manuals and mag ads. It was then converted to Flash. It’s not a bad game, though. Short, at five minutes. But a lot of effort obviously went into this hoax. (via Time)

Anyone else excited for Mario Kart 3DS?

No release date yet. But listen to what the game’s Wikidpedia profile has to say: Shigeru Miyamoto stated that the new sense of depth makes it clear where all the objects are. Gamespot, IGN and Computer and Video Games have commented on the game’s good use of 3D in the game, stating that it helps with judging distance, “heightening that sense of falling”, and giving more de...
