Club Nintendo gets new rewards, a reason to spend your hard earned coins

One of the best things about being a Nintendo fan is that the way the company cares for its customers. From the giving out free games to all those 3DS Ambassadors out there, to giving away free stuff via the Club Nintendo program, Nintendo does a lot for customers that many other video game companies do not. One knock on the Nintendo of America Club Nintendo content is that the freebies are not qu...

Nintendo gets freaky this Thursday

Freakyforms, an original Nintendo 3DS release, hits eShop on November 10th. It appears to be the perfect game to bring out the mad scientist Picasso in you! Design your own creature and watch it come to life? Count me in. From Warioware D.I.Y. to Spore to Rock Band 3 to Magic Pengel (trust me, it’s awesome), nothing can get me to buy a game quicker than great character creation tools.

Next Zelda for 3DS will be original, not a remake. May or may not be in the works.

In an interview with Mygames.pt, Eiji Aonuma and Koji Kondo were on hand to discuss a few questions about the Zelda franchise at the live 25th anniversary Legend of Zelda concert at the Hammersmith Apollo Theater in London. Amongst the questions of Zelda music and Skyward Sword details, is a real nugget of information about a Zelda title for 3DS. Keep in mind that this is an Portuguese to English ...

Nintendo Video provides sneak peak at Legend of Zelda symphony CD

This news is three days late, but perhaps many of you are like me and don’t have time to look at the latest Nintendo Video content…unless it’s really good. Trust me when I say that the little blue indicator light by your Nintendo Video icon means more than you usually expect this time. In this case, it means you get a taste of the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Soundtr...

Nintendo should sell official ringtones

Is it just me, or is Nintendo missing out on some decent cash by not selling official ringtones and text message alert tones? Not to mention a complete lack of Nintendo game soundtracks over on iTunes, which is something Richard brought up last month. I’m always surprised to walk into a board game store or Target and see cheapo RC cars for Mario Kart and other sketchy merchandise when they c...

Will you shirk work to play the new Zelda?

I’m debating it. The gaming gods certainly know I want to. But the timing of my review copy this week couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient… um, time. Abnormally high workload. Prior family engagements late into the night. Finishing up other dealines first. The cherry on top: a threatening cold. (Sob story, I know.) I could blow it all off. But I decided to wait until a prope...

Manual game saves: Retro chic or outdated design?

Derek and I have previously said that specific Zelda gameplay should be updated for the 21st century. One of those issues is manual game saves. Although not exclusive to Zelda, the new Skyward Sword, like previous Zeldas, requires the player to manually save their progress. Instead of auto saving like most modern games, Skyward Sword players will have to save their progress at “any of t...

Skyward Sword is “deepest Zelda yet” – what does that mean to you?

In a recent promotional email (seen above), Nintendo claims that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the deepest Zelda yet. To me, depth would mean an engrossing story with characters you care about and a game world that feels alive. To others it might mean a lot of items to collect or side quests to embark upon. Dragon Quest IX had a great balance of these qualities and was able to deliver dept...

Jimmy Kimmel is perhaps the best late night talk show host on the planet

…not only does he absolutely love video games, his whole cast dressed as video game characters on the Halloween episode of his show. Who doesn’t love a talk show host that dresses as Donkey Kong, honestly?! Does anybody else watch Jimmy Kimmel Live? Does anybody else have a feeling that Reggie will show up on the ...
