Epic Games still whining about ‘Wii dominance’

Oh, Mark. Come now. Games with color and some silliness now and then aren’t going to make your balls shrivel up and die. Live a little! Regardless, it’s the horsepower fallacy all over again. Wii’s motion controls are kiddie and weak, and once the “powerful” Natal arrives (with Sony’s still unnamed “Motion Controller” licking at its heels for hypothe...

Rumor: Mirrors Edge heading to the Wii

While checking out some news articles this morning before I headed off to school, I stumbled upon what some websites are calling a prototype for the Wii. Apparently, EA Games has asked Backbone Entertainment to develop a small demo of Mirror’s Edge for the Wi, DS, and other Portable consoles. It is unknown if this will hit the ground running and jumping over hurdles. but some concept art has...

Welcome to Comicon’catch ’em all!

Anyone in California right now for ComiCon? I really need to start going to more shows. I have like 23 days of vacation left this year!

Awesome of the day: 8-bit Weezer

Ever heard of Chiptunes? No? Well here’s your crash course – Chiptunes are musical compositions that use classic game console soundchips instead of traditional synthesizers – in short, people hacking old consoles to make music.  Every now and then something awesome comes along that just begs to be shared, and this is one of them: Pterodactyl Squad’s “Weezer – t...

Recreating Zelda as a First Person 3D Adventure

Ever wondered what it would be like to play the original Legend of Zelda while looking through the eyes of Link? What, never? Well you’re going to find out what it’s like anyway, because some guy named Radix deemed it so. He has released a version of the game in demo form that lets you walk through a dungeon attacking various enemies from the original game in first person glory. While ...

Fox News now Employing Zelda Music

Seems like Fox has gotten some Nintendo fans in the studio. At the 55 second mark during the interview of people around town, you can hear the house tune from Ocarina of time. It’s kind of weird to hear Zelda music during a serious news story, but then again it’s Fox news. Is this cool, or just plain weird?

[Review] Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 What makes my Dad and Tiger Woods awesome

I never thought I’d ask for my father’s help in a video game, but I was at my wits end – I was 12 over, behind a tree, in the deep rough, and my hand hurt. Tiger Woods PGA 10 had bested me, I needed someone who knew golf – time to ask Dad. “How do you hold your golf club?” I asked him, “My left hand keeps cramping up and I can’t get the ball to go st...

World of Goo follow up “in the works”

To be clear, it’s not a sequel, but rather the second game made by World of Goo developer 2D Boy. Here’s what the studio mastermind told Nintendo Dpad yesterday: “The three of us are cooking up a new game for WiiWare, currently “in the works”. We haven’t mentioned anything about it to anyone, but here’s a clue – the new game from the the three of us is bas...

Youtube Tuesday: Jumping Music DS

This is probably one of the most original music rhythm games I have seen in a while. Anyone a big fan of games like these? I’m talking games like Ouendan, and Daigasso! Band Brothers, not that crummy reused beyond belief Guitar Hero stuff. Have any suggestions or videos for YouTube Tuesday? Send them in at [email protected] [Thanks for the video Jorge]

There might be something to this Wii MotionPlus thing…

First party Nintendo titles? MotionPlus don’t need no stinkin’ first party titles. It’s sold 500,000 units since launch on the strength of Tiger Woods alone (and to a lesser extent Grand Slam Tennis). A bit less than half of that was sold in Tiger Woods bundles. The ravaged economy, responsible for the current slump in gaming, has had the RPG-esque “no effect” on Moti...
