Impressions: Mario Kart 3DS

My time with Mario Kart 3DS was short but sweet at the Nintendo booth. The game plays exactly how you would expect a Mario Kart title to play, so gamers will be able to jump right in and begin karting without a hiccup. When your kart hits a jump, it will sprout a hang glider out the back which gives you the ability to glide the kart to the ground. This adds an entirely new element to a familiar f...

Impressions: Luigi’s Mansion 2

Luigi’s Mansion 2 will be immediately familiar to anyone who has played the Gamecube original, which is a good thing. To dispose of ghosts, Luigi must surprise them with his flashlight which can be controlled by holding  down the strobe button and moving around the 3DS using the accelerometers. Once Luigi has them stunned, his trusty Poltergust 3000 is used to suck the ghosts into the v...

Impressions: Super Mario 3DS

The e3 demo for Super Mario 3DS was short but sweet, giving the public their first chance to see how 3D can make an impact on a platformer. Miyamoto has gone on record saying that stereoscopic 3D would be a beneficial feature to platformers, and I’m here to tell you that he is 100% correct.

Nintendo eShop–It’s Alive!

How do PS Vita details change how you feel about 3DS (if at all)?

Sony named, dated, and priced its new handheld today. Dubbed PS Vita, the touch and control enabled handheld is as powerful as modern consoles. It supports interoperable multiplayer with PS3, and has a street pass like feature called “near.” Oh, and it’s $250, just like 3DS, and launching this fall. That said, it’...

Ocarina of Time 3D instruction booklet scans for your viewing pleasure

June 19 can’t come soon enough for Zelda fans, and some lucky folks have received early copies of the game. What are us less fortunate to do in the fortnight until then?! Taking a peak at these instruction booklet scans might help ease the pain! Now I have always been an instruction booklet reader, front to back. Looks like the fine folks at Zelda Dungeon will help me to get that done a bi...

Iwata asks is all about the music!

In the latest edition of Iwata Asks, Satoru Iwata sits down with video game composers Koji Kondo and Mahito Yokota and talks about the soundtrack for the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake for the Nintendo 3DS. As usual for Iwata Asks it is a very interesting read, but one part managed to grab my attention:

Nintendo confirms free Pokedex 3D and Excitebike 3D for eShop launch

Nintendo just announced what many 3DS owners have been hoping for: Monday’s eShop launch will include two freebies: Pokedex 3D and Excitebike 3D. Check below for Eugene’s summary of Pokedex 3D: This sounds like it could be a lot of fun, and the price is certainly right! I’m particularly happy regarding this morning’s confirmation that the game will support AR viewing of you...

Saturday June 25th is Street Pass day!

…so says Nintendo, anyhow. How exactly is everybody going to be in the same place at the same time with 3DS in tow? Don’t worry, Nintendo has you covered! Nintendo has just launched a new online community website to help 3DS owners meet up and StreetPass to their hearts content. Sign up for the event by creating an account or even using Facebook connect and come June 25th, you could be...

Rumor: Heroes of Ruin for 3DS coming from SquareEnix, n-Space

This one’s a doozy. Coming from the Facebook page of  developer n-Space, concept art for Heroes of Ruin was spotted with info that the title will allegedly be a new 3DS title published by Square-Enix. The game will also feature a panther wielding a humongous sword. n-Space is best known for the Gamecube first-person adventure title Geist, and are also responsible for many of the Nint...

Super Mario 3DS: the most wanted items

The items in a Mario title are what defines each game. Many of the items appear in almost every title such as the Fire Flower and Mushroom, while others have only appeared in a single title such as the Frog Suit. If I had it my way, the following items would make the cut for Super Mario 3DS because of their rarity and sheer awesomeness. What items did I choose? Read on to find out!

Code name for Ocarina 3D or new Zelda online game?

You tell me. Nintendo has a listing at ESRB for Zelda Universe, an “online” game. Incidentally, Zelda Universe is the name of Nintendo’s official Zelda website. Thoughts?
