Micro makes solid debut

The Micro attracted better-than-expected orders on its Japanese debut on Tuesday, though less than Game Boy Advance SP originally did. Retailers have been receiving pre-orders of about 70% of total inventory which is still very solid. Nintendo is aiming to sell 4 million units of the Micro worldwide by next March. It should be interesting to see how the unit sells in the US next week. I remember a...

Micro Packaging Unveiled

When the Micro is launched next week, it will feature a very different kind of packaging. It looks like they’ve got it all “plasticized” a la iPod styling. Although this is consistent with Nintendo’s desire to sell to the casual, chic consumer, we’ll have to wait till next week to see how it sells.[Source: IGN]

Nintendo Exec Announces Retirement

Longtime VP of Sales for NOA, Randy Peretzman has officially stepped down today. He has helped launch every Nintendo game system and major game title for the past 20 years including the NES all the way up to Nintendogs. “From the launch of the original NES to our latest software phenomenon, Nintendogs, Randy has made significant contributions to the success of every new hardware and software...

Mobile Gaming

Everyone knows the Gameboy simply dominates the handheld market and now the DS is holding it’s own. While the PSP is trying to gain ground, and it has, it’s still not selling like Nintendo’s long running franchise and the new Duel Screen device. What about cell phones though? Will they ever be able to compete on scale with what the Gameboy has done. IDC seems to think so, but aga...

Euro Portable Round Up

Cubed has a nice read on the state of handhelds across the pond. They compare the buzz between the DS, PSP, and Micro. [Source: Cubed]

Meteos Goes Mobile

While perusing IGN, we came across word that the DS smash hit Meteos will be developed for mobile phones. No word on how the game will work sans two screens and a stylus, but it should be interesting to see how it turns out. This game is still kicking my trash. [Source: IGN]

Here’s some games were excited about to round out 2005. GC – Fire Emblem, FIFA ’06, Battalion Wars, P.O.P. 3DS – Electroplankton, Castlevania, Lost in Blue, Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros. (maybe?)GBA – Mario Tennis Advance, DK: King of Swing, Gunstar Superheroes What games are you on the lookout for?

Micro Price

If you check out the current survey results which run through this Friday, only about 23% plan on buying a Micro for $99 at the time of this writing. Joystiq’s survey had about 15% willing to buy the system. Is the Micro price not micro enough? Will Nintendo miss the boat on this pricing strategy? Has the company mispriced systems in the past? Numbers this low can’t be a good thing, ev...

Infendo: What does it all mean?

Have you ever wondered what the heck Infendo stands for? If so, gather round for a little self indulgence and useless information on this fine Monday. As a youngling, Game Informer was one of my favorite video game magazines. This was before “cyberspace” was around so good magazines were the only source for news, reviews, cheats, and screenshots for us kiddies. I always liked the idea ...

Can’t Put the DS Down

Monty Phan from the Star Tribune can’t put his DS down. “This is how I tell the difference between the PlayStation Portable and its rival handheld game machine, the Nintendo DS: I haven’t picked up my PSP in months, while lately I haven’t been able to put down my DS.” There are so many good games right now for the DS, and there’s a lot more on the way. Be on the...

RE5 Revolution Bound?

A slew of sites are quoting “someone” from the Nintendo pre-Christmas party as saying: “Capcom and Nintendo are as close as ever, which is why it was also confirmed that what a few of us had suspected is true- Resident Evil 5 has yet to be announced for the Revolution purely because details of the system are not publicly available. There will be good news on this front, worry ye ...

Survey Results

Well, this past week was a lot closer. Most of you agreed that the Zelda delay and a Revolution delay are the worst, followed by a tie of the Nintendogs commercial and$99 Micro price. Make sure to place your vote for this weeks survey.
