When I am having a rough time drawing or thinking up how to write an article or an essay I usually mess around with pixel art. No, I am not opening MS Paint or some other program to plot dot after dot, I am working on a grand scale here. I take huge colored icon squares and place them on a plain background either dark grey, or light grey, and just go to town.

While this probably not the most productive thing to do, it does help me relax and get the creative juices flowing. Here are some of my Nintendo related pixel artwork… can you name all the characters?

In his spare time he tinkers with electronics, programming, and of course collecting video games.

  1. I find this is actually pretty cool. It’s a unique way of doing art…and considering I’m taking art in college, I have a good appreciation for it.

I know all the characters, but I don’t wanna spoil it for anyone yet. I’m curious to see how many people can guess the second one.

  2. I think I know the second one…but I don’t want to spoil it. Those are crazy awesome, though! I love ’em!
