La-Mulana is Adventuring to WiiWare in Winter

La-Mulana is a side scrolling platformer that was released back in 2005 for the PC. The game features a mixture of ‘bit’ graphics and an interface that is inspired by MSX games. La-Mulana is one of those traditional action-adventure games that will punish the player if they make a wrong move and is very reminiscent of the Castlevania and Metroid games.

It does remind me of Castlevania for MSX, how it scrolls one screen at a time, but it looks painfully slow to play.

I was going to say, I really love the look of it and I’m up for anything that is compared to Metroid or Castlevania, but the character moves far too slowly. I hope that will be changed, because it is a deal-breaker for me.

I can’t wait for this to come out! This is definitely one of my favorite indie games of all time (next to Cave Story). It seems like NICALiS has a thing for indie games lately, so I hope they keep on coming.

    P.S. @ Stephen Munn & Andrew G.

This game is slower paced than Castlevania, but that’s because Castlevania is Platformer/Action. La-Mulana is Platformer/Puzzle/Action. By no means at all is it painfully slow. As for the walking speed, that’s how slow it’s always been and it never bothered me. Don’t knock it before you try it. It’s not as bad as it looks.

Sorry for repeating myself there. For some reason, my first post didn’t show up, so I figured that it just didn’t go through.

Don’t worry about it the comments sometimes take time to approve depending on if you use ‘html’ tags.

Awesome, this is way more exciting to me than Cave Story is. It also puts the retro efforts of mega man 9 to shame handily.
