Ten Memorable Super Nintendo Songs, Themes

During my last post about video game music, I selected ten songs from the Game Cube era. This time I did the same exact thing except for the Super Nintendo. Even though the Super Nintendo had 8 channels of 32 kHz 16-bit stereo sound, the system still managed to produce some of the most memorable themes in gaming history. Although, for you to remember the themes you had to have played the games rig...

Missed opportunity: DSi doesn’t play MP3 files

MP3 files easily account for the lion’s share of digital music. Apple iTune AAC files make up a lot too, but MP3 is still the majority, and you should really be buying from Amazon MP3 now if you aren’t already doing so. So you would think when designing the DSi to play music, Nintendo would support MP3 playback. But they don’t. DSi only supports AAC files. Bummer. Nintendo presid...

YouTube Tuesday: Great Songs from the GameCube Era -Updated-

I picked seven ten GameCube songs to share with you guys today. Some of these songs are actually on my MP3 player, because they are either composed very well and are quite catchy or just soothing to listen to. There is no particular order to this list, but I want to ask you Infendo, what are some of your favorite songs from video games ...

Guitar Hero: Metallica is expertly crafted, much like the band’s killer riffs

Let me be clear: I haven’t been excited about Metallica since the black album was released in 1991. To put it nicely, I don’t think the band has put out a good album since then, although admittedly I haven’t given them a chance after being turned off by their sound in the mid ’90s, not to mention the group’s Napster snobbishness at the turn of the decade.

YouTube Tuesday: When Queen Meets Mario Galaxy

This is a surprisingly good mix, I would have never thought to combine Queen and Super Mario Galaxy. This makes me wonder what other songs could mix well with other various Nintendo games and characters? Anyone got any ideas?

JPN – Phoenix Wright the Musical

The video is entirely in Japanese, however, how can you not enjoy a few clips from Phoenix Wright the Musical? Also, Edgeworth can dance like a freak! The musical was put on by the all female musical troupe Takarazuka, the only thing that could make this more amazing is if it had english subtitles.

Off topic: Who’s the better singer: Mark or Tom?

As one of the catchiest popular punk bands in history, I was stoked to learn of Blink-182’s regrouping and subsequent new album this summer. Dudes write fun riffs and I digg their playful style (especially during hot summers), even if they’re not as “hardcore” as pioneers of the genre. So to take a time out on gaming, I ask that you indulge me, kind Infendo reader. Which is...

Legacy of Ys: Books I and II delayed

So according to an Atlus update, the Legacy of Ys DS game is going to have a special premium box. Each copy is going to be turned into that box and it will include a special soundtrack CD. However there is now a small catch for this new little soundtrack CD… “What’s the catch?” We’re glad you wondered. Alas, we’ll be delaying Legacy of Ys a couple weeks, a ...
