Motion Controls

Is the MotionPlus delay due to third party developers?

As you all know, Wii MotionPlus has been absent from the past two major Nintendo release schedules. Now, my first thought is this is Nintendo being Nintendo, always meticulously testing its first party products until they’re perfect (unless, of course, we’re talking Wii Music—I kid Miyamoto, I kid!). However, hundreds, if not thousands, of people saw MotionPlus in real-time demos...

EA Tiger Woods 10 with Wii MotionPlus: Here’s my money, take it

Joystiq has some demo footage of an EA rep going through the motions in the upcoming Tiger Woods PGA Tour golf title for the Wii. Stress motions. Joystiq came away impressed. Basically, I can’t see myself playing a golf title on any other system going forward unless it has the kind of motion controls demonstrated here.

Play on Wii: Metroid Prime Brief Hands on Impression

Recently Wired Blog got the chance to take a shot at the “Play On Wii” version of Metroid Prime, and they have noticed a few changes. Changes that would be considered improvements by some, and most of these enhancements were implemented in Metroid Prime 3. You can view a summary of all of the changes after the jump.

MotionPlus support seeps into another EA Sports game

Following in the footsteps of its support for MotionPlus in an upcoming tennis game, EA confirmed this week that its popular golf series, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, would also support Nintendo’s upcoming 1:1 motion control peripheral. I think this is actually bigger news than the tennis title, as golf was one of the marquee sports marketed by Nintendo as the perfect match for motion controls. It ...

Virtua Tennis 2009 confirmed for Wii, might have MotionPlus controls

After being conspicuously absent from Sega’s big reveal earlier this month, a Wii version of Virtua Tennis 2009 was confirmed Saturday for the Wii. It will reportedly feature all the same modes and games as its beefy cousins on the Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as some lighter fare that was probably shoe-horned in at the last second the capitalize on the non-existent, but nevertheless pandered t...

Nintendo could be developing a motion-sensing SD card

A new trademark filed by Nintendo indicates the DSi SD card slot might be used for more than just DLC storage. The Japanese trademark is for a “DS Houi Sensor Card”. Houi is Japanese for “direction,” and Siliconera is speculating it could be for a motion-sensing SD card. After last year’s Slide Mag Kid, the news is hardly a surprise, and is also perfectly in line with the compan...

The best Wii games for the fall (sorry, still no HDD)

As the leaves begin their inexorable metamorphosis from drab green to a cornucopia of reds, yellows and oranges, so too does the Wii library gain momentum and titles worth playing into the winter months and beyond. Well, at least that’s what Nintendo and its third party developers want us to believe. Here’s what we at Infendo agree are probably going to be the best of the best for the ...

LucasArts flip-flops on Wii MotionPlus hate, 1:1 lightsaber game in 2009

Like any good little (and intelligent) publisher, LucasArts has apparently “changed its mind” about Nintendo’s recently unveiled MotionPlus 1:1 motion controls accessory, and now has a game in the works that will implement the technology. If you’ll remember, LucasArts was one of the more vocal publishers in the wake of Nintendo’s E3 announcement, with one anonymous de...

Iwata: MotionPlus will be “affordable,” no more accessories planned

Worried about accessory overload and expensive Wii MotionPlus add-ons? Don’t be, says Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, because the accessory deluge is over for Nintendo (for now), and MotionPlus will be “very affordable.” Now, we should expect nothing less from the head of a gaming company, as far as spin goes, but nevertheless Iwata was at the very least out front addressing an ...

Red Steel 2 will use MotionPlus 1:1 controls

This will come as a surprise to no one, but Ubisoft has embraced Nintendo’s new MotionPlus technology and will use it in the sequel to Red Steel. Perhaps the 1:1 sword controls will make the game worth buying? I kid Ubisoft, honestly. “Red Steel 2 has been in development for many months now, and this new device will help us be even more precise in what we do with the product,” sa...

Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 shows Konami gets it

As is too often the case today, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PES 2008) was released late on the Wii after PS3 and Xbox 360 versions were already well out the door. Sounds familiar, right Harmonix? However, unlike the gimped, no frills version of Rock Band that’s headed to the Wii in June, PES 2008 was held back by Konami to give the game the extra attention it needed to fully make use of the W...
