eShop Launches June 6th

Nintendo has announced that the next big, much-anticipated 3DS system update will become available the evening of June 6th in North America (June 7th in Japan). They have confirmed that the update will include the eShop and web browser. I’m sure many 3DS owners are hoping that the eShop’s launch will include a free download of Excitebike 3D and Flipnote Studio. Hooray, 3DS takes a step...

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D dated

Capcom has let us in on when we can expect our first taste of Resident Evil on the 3DS. On June 28 Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will hit store shelves everywhere. The only question I have is whether anyone will be willing to shell out $40+ for what were essentially mini games in Resident Evil 4 and 5.  Extra corny teaser trailer with a side of cheese is included after the break.

If you haven’t already put music on your 3DS…

Do so now! Seriously, it’s a lot of fun. My favorite feature of Nintendo 3DS Sound is the ability to switch among several unique visualizations. (Helpful hint: some of these visualizations can be played.) There is also a control panel that allows you to manipulate the music by altering speed and pitch. Don’t expect the 3DS to replace your iPod, but this is definitely worth checking out...

Infendo Radio is “unexpectedly” 3DS

Nintendo sends a surprise guest to some 3DS owners

North American owners of Nintendogs + cats got a Spotpass notice on their devices yesterday, telling them that the 26th President of the United States had dropped by for a visit, bringing along his bull terrier, Pete. The notification included a bit of historical background about the dog’s infamous reputation (he was accused of ripping the pants off a french ambassador.) Now, this is fun. If...

3DS StreetPass is not region-locked, but the power supply is

On a recent trip to Germany, I was super-excited to pull out my 3DS and notice that I had made new friends during my trip. Nintendogs+Cats was even blinking, indicating a new pet owner and his canine pal would be ready for my dog Fleischwurst to play with. Low and behold, I had StreetPass’d with two German fellas; shortly after they would battle a couple of ghosts for me in Save Mii. I love ...

Why does Nintendo limit how much of certain games that you can enjoy each day?

One of the things that really nags at me about the 3DS is how I have to keep going back to the included games after either a period of time, after earning some more coins, or whatever, to be able to fully enjoy them. I’m specifically thinking about the limit on how many coins I can earn in one day for walking. I took a fairly short walk to the mall, around the stores, and home. I already max...

Even Nintendo admits there are no games available for 3DS

Poll: Do you play video games on the toilet?

You know, like with a handheld or smartphone… {democracy:144} (Thanks, ghettoska)

Feed your starving 3DS some DS greats you probably haven’t played

Nintendo’s in an awkward transitional pre-E3 mode right now, and early 3DS adopters have only a handful of good titles to choose from until things pick up. Zelda’s coming in June, and thank goodness the eShop is scheduled to launch this month. Blake’s dealing with the lull by playing awesome GBA games on his newly acquired AGS-101. For anyone whose new 3DS represents their only h...

BIT.TRIP SAGA comes to 3DS

Indy game studio Gaijin Games struck gold with the BIT.TRIP series for WiiWare with simple but addictive gameplay and wonderful “interactive soundtracks.” If you missed out on the games the first time and happen to own a 3DS I have news that may interest you. BIT.TRIP SAGA will be a compilation of a six (BEAT, RUNNER, VOI...

Tales of the Abyss 3D headed to North America

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Tales franchise ever since Tales of Symphonia helped me scratch my JRPG itch when it first released on the Gamecube. Something about these Namco Bandai made RPGs really resonate with me. If you enjoy these type of games and have a 3DS, I have some good news for you. ...
