I have a soft spot in my heart for the Tales franchise ever since Tales of Symphonia helped me scratch my JRPG itch when it first released on the Gamecube. Something about these Namco Bandai made RPGs really resonate with me. If you enjoy these type of games and have a 3DS, I have some good news for you.

Nintendo Power has revealed in this months issue that North American gamers will be enjoying Tales of the Abyss 3D this fall. Yes, the game is a port of a PS2 game released in 2006, but hey, now it’s in 3D! Who can say no to a 50+ hour RPG on a portable system anyways?

Check out the Japanese trailer for the game embedded above.

Who’s 3DS will this be popping in later this fall?

  1. Let’s hope this one comes out, the on the DS and the Wii were no show.

  2. Wasn’t there a “Tales…” game on GBA? What was it?

  3. @InvisibleMan
Tales of Phantasia I do believe. It was a remake of an SNES title. Never played the gba version, but from what I remember of the SNES version it was fantastic. I need to go replay it soon I think….

  4. It was indeed Phantasia. I still own it. :[

I’m still waiting for the Tales of Graces we were teased about earlier this year.

  5. I think it’s funny that a Playstation game is being ported to a Nintendo platform for once.

  6. Wait just remembered Disgaea and a bunch of others scratch that.

  7. This is a buy for me right now if it does indeed come to NA. This is reason enough for me to buy a 3DS; sounds weird but I’ve been wanting a 3d (3d as in 3 dimensional a.k.a. not just the 2d fight plane) tales game for a portable for a while now (I didn’t care fr TotWorld). Not to mention I loved this game for the PS2 but never finished it.
