Will Rare ever return to Nintendo?

Back in 1994 the Super Nintendo Entertainment System was at its height with Super Metroid having just been released. It was during this period when Nintendo acquired Rare as a second party and their first title for the SNES was Donkey Kong Country. Following the company’s success with DKC, Rare continued creating successful games like the two Donkey Kong Country sequels as well as Killer Ins...

Nintendo Direct 2.13.14 Announcement: Little Mac punches in to Smash Bros. 4

The first and arguably biggest announcement made during today’s Nintendo Direct was the inclusion of Little Mac in the Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS roster. Little Mac’s first and most revered appearance to the video game world was in Punch Out!! for the NES, in which the player controls him to take out various opponents in b...

Nintendo Direct 2.13.14 Announcement: Mario Kart 8 roster welcomes 7 new characters

Mario Kart 8 will undoubtedly boast the series’ largest roster of playable characters, judging by today’s announcement of 7 new additions. Joining their long-time boss (the Koopa King himself, Bowser), the 7 Koopalings will be familiar faces to anyone who played Super Mario 3 back in the day or more recent releases like New ...

Nintendo Direct 2.13.14 Announcement: Pokemon Battle Trozei

My personal hope and prediction for today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast was for some clue as to what type of Pokemon spin-off game we can expect for the Wii U. I’m just as pleased, however, to learn about Pokemon Battle Trozei, a sequel to the well-received DS game Pokemon Trozei. Both games are of the puzzle genre, but Battle...

Nintendo Direct 2.13.14 Announcement: Steel Diver: Sub Wars

In an apparent attempt to redeem the original Steel Diver, a sort-of sequel to the game is now available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop (well, it’s supposed to be: I haven’t checked honestly). The game is an FPS of sorts that allows players to take part in 4-on-4 underwater submarine fights, with other players either locally or o...

Nintendo Direct 2.13.14 shows off a slew of new game trailers

Today’s Nintendo Direct was rife with new trailers for already-announced games. Many of these trailers simply show off more gameplay footage, as opposed to containing any big news, so I’ve compiled them into this single post. Check them out below: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is going to arrive for Wii U in about a w...

According to Nintendo of America’s official Twitter feed, the upcoming broadcast will focus on both Wii U and 3DS games that will be coming by the end of Spring. We can probably expect a lot of info and gameplay footage on Mario Kart 8, as the game is scheduled for a global release in May, but what are you exp...

The 719th Pokemon has been revealed. The new rock and fairy type called Diancie will formally make its debut in the latest Pokemon movie, titled Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie. The movie is due out in Japan on July 19. The sequels that never happened

It’s a shame when a new game is trying something original and exciting, but then doesn’t sell well and never gets a second chance. Here are a few examples of games with unique ideas, but never got the chance to refine them. At E3 1999 Silicon Knights took to the stage and revealed a brand new N64 game, this was Eternal Darkness. Despite being heavily delayed until after the Gamecube la...

Youtube Tuesday – Firewall Battle

I found this pretty cool FF4 battle spoof while procrastinating with some iconic Nintendo (and Capcom) characters. Hope you enjoy it!
