Animals Cross Big in Japan

Leading up to Animal Crossing: Wild World’s release, the Japanese public had made more than 400,000 pre-orders for the community sim. Now, a week since its release, more than 300,000 DS users have picked up the game. Becoming one of the fastest-selling DS games in Japan, Animal Crossing has eclipsed first week numbers for both Jump! Superstars (50,000) and Nintendogs (135,000). As a result o...

Target Allowing DS Price Misprint

A couple days ago, we caught wind of a Target ad brochure that listed the Nintendo DS for $99. Since then, it’s been discovered that the listing was a typo. However, Target has decided to allow customers who bring in the brochure (or a screen grab of it— type “DS” in the search box on the left of this page) to buy a DS for the $99 price. The deal started today and ends on D...

Nintendo first-half profits dropped 21% citing slow GameCube sales and sluggish US demand. Gameboy Micro Price Drop: $89

Though Nintendo hasn’t officially announced any holiday price reductions, Electronics Boutique is now selling the Micro for $89 smackers. That’s right, a $10 discount. No word if this is online exclusive and/or for a limited time only, but all other retailers seem to be selling the handheld at the MSRP of $99. While this isn’t a huge drop, every little bit helps. Get ’em wh...

Kid Icarus Revolution?

In IGN’s recent 10 reasons to wait for the Revolution article, IGN makes claims that you will be able to play Kid Icarus only on the Revolution. Here’s what IGN said (emphasis added): If you want to control series hero Link in an all new home console adventure, you can only do it with Nintendo Revolution. And the same is true for all of Nintendo’s major games, from Mario to Pikmi...

European Mario Kart DS Commercial

Nothing too fancy, but I love the Gameboy startup sound of the commercial when the Nintendo logo pops up. They really need to market that vintage goodness more in their advertising. Mario Kart DS hits Europe November 25. [Thanks, Fabian. Source: Nintendo Europe]

Originally slated for the tail end of December, the US release of the Famicom-themed GameBoy Micro has moved up to December 4th. The limited edition Micro will go on sale for $99, deemed the “20th Anniversary GameBoy Micro.” Cop it while it’s hot. [Source: IGN]
