Mystery online Wii game will ditch Friend Codes

The latest IGN Nintendo Voice Cast podcast, by way of Joystiq, is reporting that a “major” online Wii title will arrive soon without the much-maligned Friend Codes restricting its online play. Which one? No idea. But it’s “major.” Related to this, I seem to remember an EA title (was it Madden? I don’t recall) in 2008 circumventing the Friend Code system, so this...

Rumor: Nintendo DSi arriving April 4 for $180

Sources today are reporting that Nintendo could drop the DSi in North American as early as April 4. The portable, featuring a handful of updates to the DS Lite platform, is rumored to be $180. For you latecomers, the Nintendo DSi looks similar to its DS Lite cousin, but also includes two cameras, an SD card slot, and a new Wii-inspired menu interface. The DSiWare Store, which will feature a catalo...

Nintendo Spotting – Cross Stitch Zelda Map

This is a pretty amazing art piece that is done entirely with cross stitching. It is the full map of the light world from the Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past. This little project took approximately four months to complete, and as you can see the time and dedication really payed off. I just wish I could get this as a T-shirt, good job Servotron. Dog killed by Wii remote, revived by mouth-to-mouth

I’m in awe, folks. Shock and awe.

Ye Olde Collection of Games Mini and Small Headed Forthwith to Wii

Hmm. Would I rather have the Black Plague or more mini-game schlock on my Wii? Looks like “neither” isn’t an acceptable answer to that question, and I actually might have to deal with both, as Vir2L Studios (who?) announced today that Medieval Games for the Wii is coming soon. If Link’s Crossbow Training wasn’t enough to satiate your appetite for all things medieval a...

Nintendo Power teases Indianapolis satellite image in latest issue

I haven’t finished my current issue of Nintendo Power yet and already someone is snapping strange pictures of the next issue’s big tease. Apparently, it’s a satellite map of Indianapolis. Speculation ranges from a Google Maps partnership with Nintendo (or Wii Channel), to an Indianapolis racing game, to–hold onto your hats–something to do with Earthbound. Who’s ...

Dead Rising’s Isabella really loves Ben & Jerry’s ice cream

It’s the only way I can explain why she has multiple chins in the Wii version, coming soon, and not in the Xbox 360 version, which has been out for more than a two years. Sure, the Wii’s graphics aren’t going to be as sharp, and the number of zombies on screen is pitifully less than the Xbox 360 version, but since when has a weaker processor translated into multiple chins?! And t...

Japanese wall of Famicom nostalgia costs $7,300

Importers and Japanese residents might want to get down to gaming mecca Akihabara today. Why? Because some crazy store is offering a “complete set” of 1,051 Famicom games for about $7,300. Complete set is in quotes because there’s a small caveat: “‘[C]omplete set’ here refers to all the retail Famicom games sold from 1983 to 1994 and not the crazy rare (and pric...

Family brains dog with Wiimote

The Wiimote — Industry game changer. Nintendo money-maker. Dog killer. Lucky for the pooch his quick thinking owners were able to revive him and a vet was able to save him. Regardless, the flying Wiimote is alive and well and tired of killing TV screens. Now it’s out for blood.

CTA Digital Wii Crossbow attachment promises minutes of fun

This is the current guest strip over at Dueling Analogs. Any web comic that ends with Mario being called a pimp gets at least a link from me. Mario, I had no idea, you sly dog.
