Though not as exciting as the new games dated for Wii and DS, here are the VC games hitting Wii at 9 a.m. PST today: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest (SNES®, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) Streets of Rage 2 (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) Blazing Lazers (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points) You buying? Oh, and what’s your favorite VC title to date? Mine’s K...
Nintendo just dated a slew of games for this summer and beyond. The biggest one? Metroid Prime 3 hitting Wii on August 20 (assuming Nintendo doesn’t delay it)! This news is so good I could actually kiss Perrin Kaplan upon hearing. Other notables include Mario Strikers Charged (which I’ve heard is insanely fun) and Brain Age 2 for DS. Read on for the full list of gaming goodies.
Listen in as we discuss all the weekly goodies in smart form. It’s a bit long, but it’s a good one. You won’t believe what Scott did on the show (<– that was a fake teaser, but we did have a really good time recording it). Hope you enjoy! To steal a term coined by Kotaku, I put together the above charticle juxtaposing the first six month console sales of Wii, 360, PS3, PS2, Xbox, and GameCube. First, the Wii has sold better than the mighty PS2 after the first six months. Amazingly, both the PS3 and 360 sold worse than the GameCube for the same period (!). Cumulative first six month totals in units sold are as follows:
Famitsu magazine/website unveiled their top thirty sellers chart, which uses data taken from the 23rd of April until the 6th of May. Nintendo dominated with 25 of the 30 spots going to DS and Wii games (and even a DS system bundle!), and not a Sony title is in sight until spot 18.
I just got done with Godfather Blackhand Edition, played enough Tiger Woods, and I’m done with Super Paper Mario too. My Wii has finally hit a resting spot, at least for me anyways. However, while at GamePro last week, I heard some awesome things about Super Mario Strikers. The fellers there said they’ve been playing a preview copy for hours, in full-out screams and yells it’s so...
I’m all about riding Blake’s coattails today… When I read his post about a Zelda makeover I had one of those random inspirational flashes, as I am wont to do when reading anything written by savvy former Joystiq blogger and current columnist to the video game stars Blake Snow. My random flash was: sure, Zelda could use a makeover. I’m all for it, actually. But what if that ...
Blake’s already posted a few thoughts on Nintendo’s dominance of North America today, but I thought I’d cut and paste the first paragraph of Nintendo’s press release on the news, and then reflect on it with unabashed love and admiration. “Already riding a streak as America’s No. 1 seller of video game consoles, No. 1 seller of portable game systems and No. 1 pub...
Gamasutra sat down with Christian Svensson, Sr. Director of Strategic Planning & Research for Capcom recently, and had a wide-ranging interview about Capcom’s future. A few of the questions actually gave some insight into Nintendo’s future, however, especially in the gray, hazy area that is downloadable games. Bottom line, Capcom says it’s still a go and very much possible, b...
Tired of your Wii being the only console on the block with only one measily analog stick? Well according to Japanese magazine/site famitsu, accesory company Cyber is releasing a ??????????or “remote stick,” a sleeve that you can pop on your Wiimote that will turn the last surviving D-Pad into another analog stick (well not really, but your thumb will think it is). The product comes out...
The DS and Wii outsold the competition in that order yet again for the month of April; the DS selling a whopping 417K units with the Wii selling 360K units. GBA even managed to outsell the PS3 by 4,000 units at 84k. From a competitve console standpoint, the 360 sold an unimpressive 176K units considering the seven year old PS2 outsold it yet again. Oh, and Nintendo games made up the top four selli...
CVG thinks so: “We think if Nintendo is to strike the right balance between changing Zelda enough to refresh the franchise and keeping enough of its traditions so as to maintain its heritage and please loyal fans, it needs only to look at its chubby mascot: Mario. With every Mario game that comes along, Nintendo tries to do something inventive, unique and pioneering. ” Oddly, having pl...
