Wii 2.0 — coming soon!

Take this news with your usual dose of Internet cynicism, but yet another analyst* said Wii 2.0 could be out in a matter of years. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter told GamesIndustry.biz that a higher spec, HD-enabled “Wii 2” could be on the shelves “in a couple of years.” Pachter’s comments were in response to those made by our old, misguided friend, SEGA execu...

Japan and Nintendo are getting a bit ridiculous

The wave continues. Is Nintendo’s Kyoto-based HQ the new capital building yet or what? Next Generation: The DS Lite was once again the runaway victor outselling Sony’s PSP by almost 5:1. Similarly the Wii outsold the PlayStation 3 by more than 7:1. The PlayStation 2 sold 11,000 units, marginally less than PS3 and Xbox 360 put together. DS Lite – 117,193; Wii – 64,529; PSP &...

SEGA exec: Wii will be dated in few years

If the news about sales numbers seem to be getting a little stale, then so too are the stream of executives and analysts who continue to hark on the Wii for having inferior graphics and hardware. Sega’s Scott Steinberg, vice president of marketing for SEGA US, is the latest guy to “just not get it”: Steinberg, vice president of marketing for SEGA US, has said he is “concern...

Just a quick update to today’s earlier post on the NPD numbers…If you do the math, the Wii is outselling the PS3 and the Xbo 360, combined. How to spy with a Nintendo DS

I love WikiHow. It shows you how to do things or gives tips on how to do something more efficiently. It’s almost always written in a fun style and is edutaining. Today I spotted a rather intriguing Nintendo DS related article entitled: How to Spy With a Nintendo DS I’m not sure what spooks me more about it, the fact that someone actually does that or that it’s common enough to wa...

Nintendo, the Wii, and the Black Swan

Slate.com writer Tyler Cowen tackles a new book by Nassim Taleb called the Black Swan today, and while I read the column I couldn’t help but think of Nintendo. Some might attribute this to an obsession, but once you see the points made by Taleb in his new book I think you’ll see I’m only half-obsessed.

Andy Borowitz’s satire takes on the Wii

Satirist Andy Horowitz throws down the gauntlet today in a humor column on illegal immigration: Elsewhere, the New England Journal of Medicine reports that people who play excessive amounts of Nintendo Wii may experience shoulder pain and may also never lose their virginity. The column was hilarious, as Borowitz’s usually are, but this Wii thing in the final paragraph of the piece was so out...

2,065 Mii Parade

Infendo fan and Forum poster, CaliHurBoy, found out that it takes almost 5 minutes for 2,065 Miis to run across the parade grounds on his Wii. Roughly 214 of them are Michael Jackson, 108 are Jesus, and 42 are Mario .. but there’s only one Wenis. I think its a YouTube record!

DS Browser review by Nintendo Gal

A fairly in depth review of the DS Browser has popped up over at Nintendo Gal.  She received it as a gift, so it is a pretty interesting take on the browser from the point of view of someone who didn’t blow $35 on it. It sounds like the browser is a decent piece of software, although the biggest issue is its dial-up-esque download speed. Nintendo hasn’t really gotten behind promoting ...
