From the 8.4/10 review: I think it speaks volumes that, for as reluctant as I am to buy another wartime shooter, I really enjoy playing Heroes 2 in spite of its setting. The controls do that much for me. If you thought Metroid Prime 3 got it right, wait until you get your hands on this one. You had me at four added decimal points. Kidding — add another one to the list.
On Sunday night, Nintendo will hold a launch party at their Nintendo World Store. The game goes on sale at Midnight, but the party starts earlier at 8PM with physical challenges and all sorts of shenanigans. They will even have Wii consoles for sale at Midnight! Are you going to the party in Rockefeller Plaza on Sunday night? [source]
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn came out for Wii this week with very little fanfare. Metacritic shows an average score of 83, ranging from Nintendo Power’s 95 to Game Informer’s 70. A common thread in many reviews for the title say that it is a great game, but will mostly appeal to existing fans of the series. Having played the GameCube edition, I’m pretty excited to check out this new...
If it has achieved anything, the recently released Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast has proven Nintendo-produced Wii software is certainly not immune from negative criticism. Dave Rudden of GamePro called Donkey Kong’s latest outing “offensive to all senses” and warned its “rancid nature…is likely to give you acid reflux.” IGN’s Mark Bozon bluntly called it a “waste of a game,” and A...
Leave it Reggie to say what everyone I was already thinking months ago. Today, GameDaily quotes Reggie Fils-Aime, the current godfather of all things Nintendo in the ever important American market, and he spewed a mouthful once again. Basically, Reggie told BMO Capital Markets today that, “The challenge that our competitors have is significant. They’ve gone down the path with building ...
Wii has been out for almost a year and it’s still only available in white. From its introduction at E3 2005, there have been several color variations shown by Nintendo, but nothing has been made available for our living rooms. This week, we want to know: {democracy:21} If you say “Yes”, tell us which colors you’d like to see or if you’re holding off on buying a Wii un...

Activision got lucky this time. If it weren’t for the rocking gameplay of Guitar Hero III, the audiophile in me would advise against the $90 purchase on principle alone — don’t ship a music game with mono-only sound while in game mode. Inexplicably, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for Wii does precisely that. Fortunately, there’s an abundance of saving graces.
Next-Gen has published an interesting feature that examines Nintendo’s failed attempt to simplify and expand gaming even before the Wii. “How’s that?” you ask. With the unique button hierarchy of the GameCube controller (a controller I still believe is the best ever). An excerpt: All and all, with its “ergonomic” controls, the GameCube was a step in the right di...
