Professor Layton & Phoenix Wright cross-over coming to 3DS

This sounds like a very early April Fools’ prank, but Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney is an actual game that Level-5 and Capcom are putting together for the 3DS. I cannot wait for those accusatory fingers come pointing out of my screen, even if we don’t have a clue about gameplay yet! Hopefully the game gets released outside of Japan. What do you think: Good idea? Bad idea? Awesome id...

After finishing Kirby, I’ve only got one complaint…

My first run through Kirby’s Epic Yarn took about eight hours. After beating Yin-Yarn, I found I’d only completed 59% of the game; There are many World Doors I haven’t unlocked yet, and a lot more music CD’s to find. The game’s incredibly fun, imaginative, and surprising, with an amazing musical score that gets better and better as the journey progresses. I have one c...

Forget Apple getting into games; should Nintendo get into smart phones?

Game Informer editor Andy McNamara argues that a convergent portable device, both for games and phone crap, is inevitable. In a printed column titled The future is ringing, will someone please pick up, he writes, “I can’t wait to play the 3DS, but I get the sinking feeling that it will only pacify us until this inevitable [convergence of gaming and smart phones] happens. If Sony and Ni...

Disc-less Netflix streaming debuts on Wii

Today Nintendo released a free Netflix channel for download from the Wii Shop, which will allow Netflix subscribers to stream their movies through the service without the need to first insert a Netflix disc. A Netflix streaming subscription currently costs $8.99/month, includes a 1 month free trial, and should be the same experience whether you use a disc or not, but now you can keep your happy d...

Steamboat Mario

Oh, Mario. Epic Mickey looks like it will be pretty good, but it won’t be that good. You don’t have to dress up like someone you’re not. Don’t feel threatened. Everything will be fine. Feel content knowing a third party’s game could be one of the highlights of the holiday season on a system you helped make strong.

Now celebrating 25 years: Happy birthday, Nintendo Entertainment System!

Go on, wish the ‘ole fella a happy birthday. And while you’re at it, let us know your favorite NES experience.

Is Kirby the best 2D game since Yoshi’s Island?

Three worlds into Kirby’s Epic Yarn, I’m convinced this is the spiritual successor to Yoshi’s Island, which was and remains–arguably–the best 2D platformer of all time. If you’re old enough to remember the disappointment surrounding the release of the follow up, N64’s Yoshi’s Story, Kirby’s new title is the game you actually wanted to play back...

Overly personal poll: Do you pray?

I posted a similar poll on my blog this year and thought it would be fun to gauge the “religiocity” of Infendo readers as well. So tell us, people of the world: {democracy:122} Whatever your beliefs, happy Sunday, everyone.

Someone tar and feather me: I still haven’t played Okami

First released four years ago on PS2 and 2.5 years ago on Wii, the critical-acclaimed Okami is a game I’m ashamed to say I’ve never played. To whit, everyone and their Okami dog says it’s the best Zelda game not made by Nintendo. It reviewed in the 90th percentile. And the widescreen 480p Wii version only costs $13 on ...

Man makes NES rumble controller

It doesn’t always rumble when you’d expect it to, given the NES’s limited control cycles. But it rumbles! (via Joystiq)

If you have a PC, put Trine 2 on your radar

In case you missed it last year, Trine was a sweet little platform game for PC. Its controls aren’t as tight as Mario, I admit, but it’s still a “fun, magical-looking, and well-told game that’s easily worth the $20 sticker price.” Since the PC is by far your second favorite platform, I thought you guys might enjoy it ...
