Nothing to see here: Nintendo just “replaying” Wii U presentation at CES next month

Here it is, straight from the horse’s mouth: “Nintendo of America, working with the 2012 International CES management, will offer demos of the upcoming Wii U console to members of the media who did not see the system at the 2011 E3 Expo. However, Nintendo will not have a booth at CES, nor does it plan to include any games, experiences or information beyond what was available at the 201...

Nintentunes: The anti-Nintendo edition

Video game music has come a long way from the bleeps and bloops that populated most game at the inception of the medium, and seems only right to take a look back at not only game that have appeared on Nintendo consoles, but ones that have appeared on consoles that do things that Ninten-don’t (see what I did there?). With that said, I hope you enjoy this weeks walk down memory lane in this ed...

More thoughts about Mario Kart 7

Two weeks in, my enjoyment of Mario Kart 7 shows no sign of fading. The online races work so well, this title alone could keep my 3DS in action for the system’s lifespan, just as online racing in Mario Kart Wii kept that console humming through many software droughts. Some random thoughts about the game have cropped up since the review:

Ambassadors, your GBA games have arrived!

The release began yesterday in Australia and Japan, and continued this morning in Europe and North America; the ten free GBA games for 3DS Ambassadors are now available! If you bought a 3DS and connected to the eShop before the system price drop on August 12 of 2011, the following games are yours as a thank you from Nintendo: Yoshi’s Island, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Metroid Fusio...

Nintendo preparing to patch game-ending bug for Zelda: Skyward Sword

The patch is coming via download, reports Andriasang. Snail mail options will be available to game owners without Internet access. The news comes after a game-ending bug was discovered last week.

Club Nintendo now offering game downloads for Wii and Nintendo 3DS

I hardly believed it myself when I saw it. In addition a new look, Club Nintendo is now offering actual game downloads for Wii and 3DS. This month’s game selection includes Super Mario Kart and Fluidity (Wii), and 3D Classics: Xevious and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! (3DS). The prices range from 100-150 coins (Club Nintendo reward points, in other words). Apparently the availabl...

Bring it on: Retro Studios in consideration to collaborate on next Zelda

Says Nintendo’s Miyamoto: “As you know, we have already collaborated with Retro for the Metroid Prime series in the past (not to mention last year’s game of the year: Donkey Kong Returns). And I think when we talk about any other franchise, Zelda might be a possible franchise for that collaboration.” It’s common belief around the halls of Infendo that Retro Studios ma...

Let’s have our first Mario Kart 7 community night, shall we?

Community Code: 20-1691-6700-3942 Here’s what I propose: Saturday, December 17; 7:00 p.m. US/Eastern. There’s no way we can arrange for a time that suits everyone, but if you miss out, don’t worry: this won’t be the last community night! I do want to hear some feedback, though. Will you be able to make it? Should we have it sooner? Comment away, racers.

New Kid Icarus trailer makes us glad Nintendo usually doesn’t narrate their games

Kind of embarrassing. Be careful what you wish for.

Aonuma so happy with the motion controls in Skyward Sword that he doesn’t want to make another one without them…

…and I’m inclined to agree. While there were a few instances where I felt the game wasn’t doing exactly what I wanted it to, on the whole I felt the controls were spot on. Here is what he had to say to Official Nintendo Magazine UK: “I honestly think we cannot go back to button controls now, so I think that these controls will be used in future Zelda titles, too.” I’...

The truth about Miyamoto’s employment: Keeping seniority but making indie games

The revelation last week that Miyamoto was demoting himself to focus on smaller games was only half true. By now, most of you know the demotion part was “sarcasm lost in translation,” Nintendo says. But all indications suggest Miyamoto indeed wants to focus, if not work alongside, smaller and younger development teams within Nintendo, instead of the upper-level oversight roles he̵...
