New Game Get – Nintendo releases for the week ending March 14th

This week, a massive list of releases with a lot of great titles … is this November or something? Big games this week include New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis and Pikmin, Madworld, and Samurai Shodown Anthology.  Sadly, not much on the DS. Hit the break for the full list.

Datel “Old Skool” Retro Controller Review

Last summer, Datel released a retro styled classic controller in Japan, based off of the Famicom controller of the 1980s.  Holding the same form factor as an NES controller, yet equipped with X, Y, and shoulder buttons of the SNES controller, it was something Wii owners had been waiting for – a classic controller from the era their Virtual Console games.  The new game-pad made it’s w...

Gamefly continues it’s tradition of human interaction free game rental with the Gamefly G-BOX. Similar to DVD rental machines found in grocery stores, the G-Box allows customers to rent video games on a day-to-day basis for a small fee – 1.99 per day for Wii games 2.49 per day for Xbox 360 and Ps3 games. Edge magazine 200th issue cover campaign has to be expensive

To celebrate its 200th issue, the venerable Edge magazine is sending out 200 different covers to newsstands next week. That’s impressive in and of itself, and probably somewhat pricey, but the real reason I post today is all of the Nintendo characters and games that are represented here. Actraiser. Link. The Final Fantasy 3 (U.S.) characters. And of course, all the rest like Wolfenstein (PC)...

Pelloni (Bob) tells Infendo about hype, SDK

We’ve written a lot about “bob’s game” in the past – covering protests, threats, forfeits, revivals, and zany antics – but never dug beneath the surface of Robert Pelloni’s masquerade of hype.  What exactly has Pelloni been up to?  Reader speculation ranges from a carefully designed marketing campaign to an insane, self-absorbed brat with an overblown se...

Update: Vidya Marathon – Is Over.

Some of our Infendo Forums users, Shinoji and Abysmal, as well as their friends, have dedicated their spring break to raising money for Penny Arcade charity, Child’s Play. Even though their marathon is now over and did not manage to meet their goal of 1,000 dollars. They did manage to raise 435.44 dollars, which was just short of half their goal. Even though they are not playing any games an...

An early look at Nintendo’s next generation console

The weekly GameIndustry.biz newsletter that arrived in my inbox this morning was all about the future of the TV, and how its hyper-connected online future relates to gaming as a whole (widgets, streaming, the cloud, oh my!). It was a fascinating read, but I couldn’t help but think about Nintendo the whole time.

Nintendo grants wishes – Punch-Out Wii to offer NES control

Nintendo revealed a little bit more about Punch-Out for Wii: The motion-sensitive controls of the Wii console mean that when players throw punches, Little Mac throws punches as well. Additionally, you can control hooks and jabs by combining motion control with control-stick movement. The motion-sensing Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers turn real-life swings into on-screen punches, so anyone can p...

I’ve got your Wii ‘graphical wonder’ right here

Wherein I address one of Infendo’s senior commenters in the post headline– a first! Anyway, we’ve been talking about graphics and shovelware here at Infendo lately (both staffers and commenters, because you’re awesome), and these new screens from the upcoming Boy and His Blob update are pretty remarkable. “Graphical wonders” even, in a hat tip to one of our regu...

Unsold shovelware can’t hurt you

Funny how some gamers get worked up over shovelware. Have they forgotten about console lockout chips which limit the damage? Or trustworthy recommendations to help navigate the murky waters? And is there some video game Boogie Man I’m not aware of, forcing players to buy terrible games against their will? On the surface, I can understand the concern. The Wii is home to more poorly-received g...

So I’m pretty stoked for Grand Slam Tennis

After reading the Nintendo Power JPG teaser today, I’m excited for this Wii timed exclusive. It sounds like there’s a variety of controller setups (wii mote alone, with nunchuck, with motion plus), the latter of which sounds promising. Backhand recongnition. Angle recognition. I’m in. Now if only I can talk someone into handling player movement like this.
