After reading Nintendo DSi preview, I’m feeling blue

I’m not one of the lucky ones who’s going to be testing the Nintendo DSi, but regardless, after reading a hands-on recap by a trusted colleague-in-arms, I’ve decided to go blue when the portable refresh hits store shelves next month. I know not everyone is excited about the DSi launch, but for those of you who are, is going blue a giant mistake or what?

YouTube Tuesday – Pokemon rap is funny, profane

Not sure if this is a response to my Pokemon question from yesterday, but Drew sent in this rap and it’s pretty funny.  Warning to the kids out there, he swears a little bit.

Nintendo prevails in Wii patent lawsuit

REDMOND, Wash. — A U.S. District Court judge has summarily dismissed a patent-infringement lawsuit against Nintendo brought by Fenner Investments Ltd. Fenner had alleged that the Wiiâ„¢ console and its controllers, as well as the Nintendo GameCubeâ„¢, infringed on one of its patents (U.S. Patent No. 6,297,751). Judge Leonard Davis of the U.S. District Court in Tyler, Texas, dismissed the cas...

Club Nintendo Platinum members to test DSi

If you happen to be a Club Nitnendo member with “Platinum” status, you might be receiving a special e-mail invite to test drive the Nintendo DSi. Who knows if this is happening all around the US, but I got and invite to a GameStop somewhere in NYC. You are encouraged to bring one of your favorite games to see how it plays on the system. I’m more interested in the unique applicat...

Video game industry needs to grow up and act like a responsible adult

It’s about time the video game industry grew up and acted like a responsible adult.  I’m not talking about mature games.  It needs to be more like its older siblings, movies and music, when it comes to fulfilling the basic expectation of a weekly release day.  Record stores always have new releases on Tuesday, comic books come out on Wednesday, and movies typically come out every Fr...

Game & Watch reviews are funny, profane

Over on SydLexia.com there is a pretty funny page of Game & Watch reviews.  Be forewarned, they swear almost as much as House Of The Dead: Overkill. Favorite quote from the article about Octopus (pictured):  “The octopus in this game is actually a septopus. Maybe that’s why he’s such a dick.” [thanks, GPFontaine]

Nintendo Power convinced me to NOT buy Pokemon Platinum

I was really excited to get Pokemon Platinum, which would be my first entry into the series!  No offense to the Pokemon Nation out there, but Nintendo Power just convinced me not to buy the new edition that comes out next week.  In their description of Pokemon Platinum, the amount of details about the characters, the items they can hold, the different Formes they can take, and the ability to gai...

Wii-kly Update – BIT.TRIP BEAT & Summer Games II

Old-school action is the main attraction at the Wii Shop Channel this week. With a wealth of underground buzz already surrounding it, a brand new WiiWare title (BIT.TRIP BEAT) uses vintage-looking graphics and 8-bit sounds to create a rhythm-based game that’s loaded with retro cool. Find out if you have enough skill to create order from chaos in a game that is as mesmerizing as it is challen...

Overheard at Infendo Headquarters: “I really do like our readers”

Last week, Infendo managing editor David Cole spoke oh so kindly of visitors to Infendo. “I really do like our readers,” he proudly said, in an unexpected email sent to staff. “It’s really nice to see some well thought out comments like this. This is definitely what makes Infendo unique.” Without missing a bit, senior editor Jack Loftus quipped, “Yeah, then a no...

Review: 20 Years of Nintendo Power is entertaining history abridged

Scott Pelland can write. As a staff writer and later managing editor of Nintendo Power for 20 years (1987-2007), I can’t think of a better historian to tell “the history of Nintendo through the pages of the official magazine,” which is precisely what Pelland did in the special edition of 20 Years of Nintendo Power. After reading it, I’m convinced he’s the grandfather ...
