Wii System Update includes storage fix, support for 32GB SD cards

The long, terrible reign of no storage solution on the Wii is over. Wii System Update 4.0 will allow for high capacity 32GB SD cards. You can also load stuff up and play it directly from the card. Our man in the field Sean will surely have more. For now, that’s your taste.

Nintendo should be worried about OnLive

A week or so ago, I talked about how Nintendo’s next generation console, beyond the Wii, wasn’t going to be a console at all, but a platform. A series of channels and streamed content that would show its mettle not on the console side of things, but in the services and functionality it provided over the web. And today, as we sit eagerly in our seats wondering if Nintendo president Sato...

How Red Fly started busting ghosts on Wii

By Jeff Mills, producer for Ghostbusters (June 16) At GDC in March 2007, Red Fly Studio had only been in business for about three months. A large part of Ronimo’s development staff is responsible for de blob, having created the original PC game as a student project, even...

EA might bundle MotionPlus with Grand Slam Tennis

My prediction that Wii Motion Plus’s “delay” had something to do with third parties was bolstered today by a rumor regarding EA. Apparently, the publisher is planning to bundle its upcoming Grand Slam Tennis title with MotionPlus for a respectable $60. That’s only $10 more than what the title would go for by itself. To further expand on my prediction, I’ll say today t...

Obscure B-list producer sets sights on Nintendo

Sounding more bitter than a skunked beer, Wanted producer Pete Wanat puffed out his chest and fanned his feathers recently in an interview with Game Trailers Invisible Walls. While the remarks were almost literally green with envy over Nintendo’s current run of success, they were also ignorant of how a successful Wii or DS title actually matures over time, and doesn’t blow its load in ...
