Wii U – Zelda Wind Waker HD bundle is official

We saw a glimpse of this special Zelda edition GamePad in the latest trailer of The Wind Waker HD for the Wii U and today Nintendo has confirmed the existence of a special Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle.

The announcement came at the same with as the official Wii U $50 price cut. So this edition can be yours for just $299.99. The bundle swaps out Nintendo Land with The Wind Waker (download code), the standard GamePad is swapped with the black and gold Zelda themed GamePad (the black console itself is the same) and a digital version of Hyrle Historia to download.

It seems us existing Wii U owners are getting some extra Zelda attention this holiday season.

In what is a first for Nintendo, consumers will get the choice in paying extra for a limited edition version of one of their flagship titles with extra physical goodies (not including functional accessories or controller bundles). The limited edition version of The Wind Waker HD comes with a stylish Ganondorf statue wielding two swords.

What do you think of the limited edition Wii U console and that Ganondorf statue?

  1. Aaaah, I KNEW I should have waited for something like this, but as soon as I could, I threw down the $350 for a Deluxe set–only a little over a month ago. Just a bit more waiting, and I could have looked forward to this. *groans*

  2. Maybe the limited edition Wind Waker with Ganondorf figure is of interest, as it comes with the game you couldn’t of got it in addition to the console bundle?

  3. I WAS going to buy the digital version of Wind Waker HD… Look like I’m going to have to get my preorder back in. :I

  4. It seems there’s an advantage on each option, the game will be released earlier on the eShop to download. Choices…

  5. FYI: North American eShop will be releasing WWHD on Sept. 20. UK eShop/Retail and NA Retail will be released Oct 4

  6. Nintendo seems to like my money more than I do. I REALLY want that GamePad, so I guess I’m buying ANOTHER Wii U. (Nintendo, PLEASE make migrating system information from one system to another easier before then. PLEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEEE!!!!!!)

PLUS, I kind of hate digital copies of retail games AND really want the Ganondorf statue, so I guess I’m buying a copy of that too.

Just do me (and my wallet) a favor Nintendo: please don’t release any more special systems for at least a year. Please.

  7. Never count Nintendo out! I think the Zelda stuff combined with the 50 dollar price cut just pushed me over the fence. Honestly, while there aren’t as many Wii U games out there as I’d like, Nintendo is the only company that still excites me… I love their colorful games that remind me of my childhood. Sony and Microsoft (Microsoft especially) just make games about steroid using space marines with a thousand shades of brown. “Edgy” is not cool to me, fun is cool.
