Within the last month, Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has revealed online a Super Mario 3D Land stage for the series’ 3DS outing and the return of Captain Olimar from Pikmin. The Smash Bros. website has given Sakurai a chance to tease fans with a screenshot per day of the 3DS and Wii U versions. Now, a new stage from the Pilotwings series has been revealed today by Sakurai. The screenshot harks back to the SNES era for the Pilotwings franchise. So far, the stage is only set to appear in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.
Does this inclusion of Pilotwings as a Smash Bros. stage give any hint to a future character from the series making an appearance? Tell us in the comments. below.

If this is the entire stage, it could be massive. What if the new Smash Bros. opened up the stage to allow players to essentially play hide-and-seek from each other, instead of fighting within a small area? It would be amazing for an online experience!

Let’s be real here Essel, it’ll be an overhead stage. I see it playing out like Isle Delfino, where you ride on a series of planes that periodically land on different parts of the stage.
And characterwise? No…that’d piss a LOT of people off. It’s likely a stage like Pictochat, Isle Delfino, Smashville, etc., where they were cool stages but had no character involvement.

Only character I can see coming from this is Lark, aka Nester, which honestly would be awesome. It would be a great way for Sakuri to pay homage to Nintendo Power, and represent the West. Granted, it’s irk a lot of people, but I’m ok with that ;).
