Toon Link returns to the Super Smash Bros. roster

Nintendo confirmed today that a returning character has been revealed for Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The character? Toon Link.

Toon Link first made his official appearance on the Smash Bros. roster in 2008’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Link’s move-set was not detailed in any way on the official Smash Bros. website. He joins Captain Olimar and Pit as the returning characters from Brawl at this moment. While a returning character, the absence of a move-set has brought up some questions: Will Toon Link be simply a clone character in the vein of past Smash Bros. characters (Capt. Falcon/Ganondorf, Fox/Falco, etc.) or will he differentiate from the traditional adult Link?

Whatever the case, maybe this would be a great opportunity to give Toon Link those laser eyes that were hinted at the beginning of Wind Waker’s development?

Harrison Milfeld is a writer, editor, and freelance journalist from Missouri. Ever since he could walk, Harrison has been an avid fan of the world of Nintendo. For years, he has purchased every one of the company's subsequent products (yes, including the Virtual Boy and eReader). It wasn't until he was a young teen when he bought a PS2 that he began to embrace cross-console relations, a decision he doesn't regret. When he's not gaming, Harrison is looking to break into the magazine journalism industry and realize his dream of becoming a features reporter.

  1. HELL YEAH!! My favorite Brawl character! Now they just need to reconfirm Wario, and then I’m set.

  2. hahahahaha, you put Laser Eyes in the tags! I seriously hope that gets incorporated into the game!

  3. There are other characters I would have rather seen instead, but that’s beyond my control sadly.

  4. My favorite character has always been Samus (except having to use Zero Suit Samus sucks major balls), but Toon Link is my best character.

  5. Ben, would you rather replace him and have the people that actually did like him best sorely disappointed? Or have him AS WELL as whatever character you’d rather have, so everyone’s happy? Just because Toon Link’s returning, doesn’t mean other characters won’t be added or return. Shouldn’t get upset or disappointed at a characters addition/return, but you can get upset when a character you wanted is left out. But that’s just my opinion.

  6. Greetings from Idaho! I’m bored to tears at work so I decided to browse your site on my iphone
during lunch break. I enjoy the information you provide here and can’t wait
to take a look when I get home. I’m shocked at how quick your blog loaded on my phone ..
I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyways, excellent blog!

  7. Lord Lemmy, sure I would want him if he did not take up a space in the roster. But he does, which means he took the place of what could of been a new character. But I really hope that his move set is different than normal Link’s, because I would rather have original characters rather than clones.

  8. Spot on with this write-up, I truly feel this web site needs far more attention.

I’ll probably be returning to read through more, thanks for the information!
