One of the more interesting announcements around the time of E3 was the return of the great Monkey Island series. Not only is it back, but it’s being done as a monthly episodic game by Telltale and will be out for WiiWare as well! I got to play the first episode of Tales of Monkey Island for PC and it definitely upholds the Monkey Island name.
Since a WiiWare review copy was unavailable, I played this game on my PC so I’ll stick to things that will translate to the WiiWare version. The story, voice acting, plot, and humor are all true to the series. I have played every Monkey Island game straight through and this one is right up there with the others.Â
If you’re new to the series, you can jump right in if you’re a fan of point-and-click adventures, any of Telltales games, or just like puzzles wrapped in weird humor. A quote I said to my wife after a late night of playing the game: “I’m too tired to think this weird!”
I honestly can’t wait for the WiiWare version so I can play it again on a big TV with my Wii Remote. Speaking of which, Telltale still can’t announce the WiiWare date yet, but Infendo will definitely let you know as soon as we hear from them. This is a top notch game and easily the best game from Telltale that I’ve played so far.
So, if you can’t wait for the WiiWare version, I would definitely recommend checking out Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwahl for PC.
