Miyamoto: Wii enhancements coming for hardcore gamers

GamePro has a nice ‘lil interview with Shiggy regarding his thoughts on the Wii so far. Here are some choice snippets: “I prepared myself for the possibility that Wii might face an uphill battle in America, so to see that it has become this big of a hit is something I wasn’t particularly expecting… There are other enhancements to the Wii interface and developments being pla...

Puzzle Quest GET

OK, so my wallet has officially been overruled. Again. I just have to get Puzzle Quest now. After last week’s input from Infendo readers and today’s web comic from Scott over at Extra Life, I am overwhelmed — my meager pittance be damned. Bejeweled for dorks. Sounds good to me.

Nintendo Spotting: French Canadian Mega Man edition

Mega Man hawks bubble tea in Montreal. I wonder what kind of weapon/tool tea gives the ol’ Rock Man these days? [Thanks, Ry C.]

Miyamoto talks Vision, Third-Party Support, and Competition in Newsweek’s post-GDC interview

N’Gai Croal’s LevelUp blog published an interview held after the 2007 Game Developer’s Conference with Nintendo’s legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. Highlights and commentary from that interview follow: “I wanted to clear up some misunderstandings that some developers have about what Nintendo is trying to do, and make it really clear that we’re not saying...

Nintendo named flagship exhibitor at E For All Expo

E3‘s old lady forced him to grow up, so he can’t hang out with his weird friends anymore. E For All Expo has stepped in as the new guy with all the fun toys. Nintendo is going to E For All’s party, big time: IDG World Expo today announced that Nintendo of America has signed on as an anchor exhibitor for IDG World Expo’s newest event: Entertainment for Allâ„¢ Expo (E for All...

Why the Sonic-Mario game DOES matter

O, Blake. You are wise beyond your years, but on the upcoming Mario & Sonic at the Olympics title you are just out to lunch. And I thought Denver, not Salt Lake, was the Mile High City. But I digress… Here’s why you’re wrong (and I’m going to go to the dark side and have Matt Casamassina help me on this one): 1. It’s not 1995, but it is 2007. Times have changed, t...

Where be Puzzle Quest?

The boys over at Penny Arcade are tripping the light fantastic — hardcore — over this new title for DS called Puzzle Quest (it exists for the PSP too, but I mean, come on, I mean really…). No less than a comic and a blog post are up over there; and I must say my interest has been tickled to the point where I may lift my no game purchases until Super Paper Mario ban and go get it....

Iwata’s goal = my new mission statement

I’d like to build upon the Satoru Iwata post from this morning by stealing his quote from the Barron’s article and using it from here on out as my own. “We are not fighting against other companies ’ we are fighting against ignorance of video games.” I guess my main quarrel with game companies today is that they refuse to take risks, and then repackage yesterday’s game...

Director leaves Castlevania movie

Paul W.S. Anderson, director of such films as Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, and Alien vs. Predator, has apparently left development of the Castlevania movie. Check out Dread Central for more information. Who do you think should replace him? [Thanks, Garth!]

CAD: Wiimote takes out last remaining Wii joke

Sure I shuddered a bit when the name was first announced, but when you think about it, only 10-year-olds and really insecure older folk actually associate the word “Wii” with peeing or the the places where pee comes from. It was childish then, and it’s just plain sad now. Ctrl-Alt-Del takes out the holdouts.

Nintendo Power features first party developer bonanza

GameSetWatch’s video game magazine round up features Nintendo Power again, and lauds the mag for its Nintendo first party exclusivity access. In this case: Pokemon. Oh, and if you want to get some insight into Nintendo’s first party developer scene, there’s a handful fo interviews there, as well: This month’s NP kicks it on the interview front as well, featuring a roundtabl...
