Code of Princess pirouettes onto 3DS October 9

There is no doubt, what with the excruciating lack of PS Vita titles on the horizon that 3DS is the place to be when it comes to a compelling handheld experience. Third party support is finally starting to gain some traction for the console, and with the announcement of a North American release date for Code of Princess, that just adds ...

Nintendos roadmap for Wii U success

Nintendo has been making a killing, especially in their home country, with the 3DS. Not only has the launch of the 3DS XL (or LL as it is known in Japan) sold like gang busters in its first week, the original 3DS saw a huge surge with the launch of New Super Mario Bros. 2. While there are still a couple of solid titles ahead for the Nintendo Wii, the same sales trend cannot be said for the console...

An opening cinema worth buying the game for

Kingdom Hearts 3D is a wonderful game *and* a fun monster pet sim. On top of that, it features the most brilliant opening cinema I’ve ever seen. It’s very much like a Disney theme park attraction, in that you can’t get the full effect from promo films or Youtube videos; it can only be fully experienced at the source, and in this case that means the dual screens of the 3DS. SPOILE...

Dream Eaters add great new gameplay twists to Kingdom Hearts

My first hours with Kingdom Hearts 3D has pulverized one of my biggest worries about the game; I didn’t think the Dream Eaters would make good replacements for the Heartless, or decent stand-ins for normal sidekicks Donald and Goofy. Turns out, the Dream Eaters couldn’t be more fun, both as enemies and allies. Creating, collecting and customizing your own team of Spirits (good Dream Ea...

New Colors for the DSi

Do you refuse to upgrade to the 3DS?  Is the DSi still your favorite handheld?  This week, Nintendo is releasing two new colors for the DSi in North America.  The new red and blue handhelds have a matte finish. The new colors are arriving after the 3DS has been out for over a year, will you consider purchasing one? On a vaguely similar note, I found this video and had to share it.  As annoying as ...

3DS Retail Codes To Be Sold Online

3DS games for the most part have had the need to either be bought as a physical cartridge or as a full on DLC title. But a new article from Andriasang, Nintendo will be incorporating online retailers into their business plans. That means you’ll be able to buy your 3DS games four different ways: The traditional way; through a store or online retailer and getting a boxed game A direct download...

New Theatrhythm DLC extends the already epic-length music game

The third round of DLC for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy landed today, adding another four classic FF soundtrack selections to the game’s minishop. Another four are due July 26th, which will bring the downloadable total up to 16 tunes available to add to the game’s built-in library of 70+ music tracks. The DLC costs 99 cents per selection. This is great news for North American FF music fan...

New Super Mario Bros. 2 Gameplay From Japan

As I mentioned in a previous podcast, I was a little worried that the New Super Mario Bros. 2 would focus too much on the coin collection, and not enough on the actual game play or storyline.  I think that I might have judged the game too soon. Japan has released two commercials that show a bit more of the game play, including a Giant Boo, a possible Koopalings chase, giant rocks falling under wat...

Adventure Time, Come on Grab Your Friends, The Collector’s Edition is Where it Is

I admit it…I am a fan of Adventure Time.  The witty, borderline “not for kids show” humor, and the completely planned randomness of the show have made me appreciate the complexity.  When I heard that s Nintendo 3DS game would be released, I could picture all of you fans just “Shakin Yo buns” in excitement! I will say, though, that a video game release of Adventure Tim...

Miyamoto May Never Put His 3DS Down Again

Back in April, I had reported that Miyamoto was a tiny bit jealous that he did not create Angry Birds.  Unfortunately, we have not seen a true successor to the addicting game of Fowl VS Pork, but we will see Angry Birds on a Nintendo console soon. Rovio has announced that an Angry Birds Trilogy will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3, and The Nintendo 3DS.  The trilogy will include the original tit...
