Today, Sega has released the first footage of the Wii U and 3DS exclusive title, Sonic Lost Worlds. The trailer depicts Sonic in a brand new environment that looks to echo back to the character’s early days of rampant speed and tight control. Sega has not mentioned other details regarding the title, but one thing does to come to mind: From the looks of the trailer, Sonic Lost Worlds seems to borrow a lot of elements from Mario Galaxy 1+2. Hopefully, the same critical and financial success is met with Sonic’s next outing.

Looks awesome! And from what it shows, I guess there might be a possibility of no boost function in this game in favor of spin dash that’s less obtrusive to your speed/flow in the 3D running sections. And speaking of which, the running animations look great! They were due for a revamp and that fact that his legs make the Super Peel Out from Sonic CD make me a happy camper!

That was awesome!! Super Mario Galaxy indeed came to mind when I first watched it.

This looks really good! I hope it gets a late summer/early fall release so it doesn’t get buried by Nintendo’s games

I’ve been wanting to try the newest iterations in the sonic games. Sonic colors or the newest sonic game with pudgy sonic and extreme sonic. I’ve just never got around to it but I am going to keep this on my radar. Nothing beats my sonic 1 & 2…when are we going to see those on the Wii U virtual console? Probably be awhile.

Sonic Generations for PS3 is really good. I assume the Xbox version is the same or better. I didn’t end up playing the 3DS version of that.
Looking forward to this.

I would hope that part of this Deal between Nintendo and Seg would include Sonic Games on the Virtual Console, would seem like a missed opportunity otherwise.
Would be Interestesting to see some other Sega IP on Wii U, surely Rub Rabbits (Project Rub) and Chu Chu Rocket are due an Upgrade! Was Skies of Arcadia Sega too, or am I getting confused?

John – Yes, Skies of Arcadia is a SEGA IP. It was developed by Overworks, which soon merged with another developer to form Sega Wow.

Actually, I don’t know about the Galaxy comparison. I’ve been hearing a lot about how this is very, VERY similar to the unreleased Sonic Xtreme.
