Just a bit of tidying up in the Virtual Console space. Today we have some info on new VC classic games. From Gamespot: Pro Wrestling Kirby’s Adventure Kid Icarus Hogan’s Alley Wild Gunman Duck Hunt PilotWings Note that a few of those are light gun games. Certainly not poopsky by any stretch of the imagination. Oh, and there’s Punch Out too, non-Iron Mike edition. All games are ra...

Yo ho! Yo ho! Games: A hobby life for me

Jack’s controversial op-ed piece that complimented Xbox 360’s Gears of War while simultaneously criticizing its high review scores caused a little nerd drama yesterday that will soon be forgotten in the blogosphere’s short memory. Snarky J let a little “unbridled enthusiasm” get the best of him, but in the end, you can’t fault the man for sharing what he is exci...

Game delay smashes Wii’s launch to Ele-bits

Wii’s already lacking launch has taken a big hit. The newest, freshest, quirkiest game set to accompany Wii to its debut has declined the invitation — Konami has delayed Elebits until mid-December. Something about the approval process is holding it back, even though the game itself is relatively finished. Damn that Treehouse. Well, there goes my November 19th. Now i have to choose betw...

Wii – the shape

Here’s an interesting article over at El Otro Lado regarding the “Wii shape”. The site shows us the painstaking brand continuity Nintendo is trying to create with Wii. When Nintendo originally showed us what Wii would look like I thought it was half-reminiscent of the original NES. Heck, I guess it kinda looks like that folded piece of paper icon on printers, too. What do you mak...

Wii Sports looks better than it did at E3

Kotaku has the goods on Wii Sports screenshots as compared to E3 back in May. Mmmm… Much more refined. Blake likes. Also notice the removal of the Nintendo logo. Click for the full image.

The future of gaming is a Gears of War 8/10 rating

The collective piling on (one could use much more graphic, vulgar terminology) that the review community has done with Gears of War has gotten my cynical side thinking again, and by that I mean more than the usual 24 hours a day. But instead of attacking GoW, I am going to use its popularity to show how the Wii is arriving at precisely the right time. First off, GoW is a great game. It is an actio...

Who is buying a Classic controller for Wii?

In a post Wii controller matrix world, I gotta ask: Who is buying a Classic controller for Wii? Since you can use GameCube pads, I’m not sure why you’d want to dump $20 on a glorified SNES controller, unless you dislike the GameCube/Wavebird wonder or Nintendo pulls a fast one on us not allowing GCN controller support for certain Wii games.

Red Steel TV commercial

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5utCdITPdU]Some readers got a bit worried when I described Red Steel’s dialogue as “campy,” so this video goes a long way in describing what I meant — it’s not a bad thing when I said that at all. Like I said before, think Hong Kong martial arts. Kudos to Ubisoft for not making another Wii commercial demo that has loopy teens j...

CNET’s "Worst tech Christmas" fails to mention Wii, DS lite

CNET’s “Is this the worst tech Christmas ever?” article today should probably cite itself. And then disappear. The author, who I can surmise must be nothing more than a thousand monkeys locked in a room with access to a thousand typewriters, says this might be the worst tech holiday season ever. Why? Because of things like the cancellation of the Microsoft Zune media player in Eu...

So long, GameCube – Epic video tribute

Infendo Forum fan, Jake Brandon (aka Hero of Time), created this epic and loving video tribute to the GameCube and its games. Take a break today and look back through the games that made the GameCube a cherished console for many. “So long, GameCube” is an Infendo GameCube salute and five-part series celebrating the final month before the launch of Wii. Part 1 – Part 2 – Par...

Tell the BBC what you think about Wii

The BBC is interested in what you think about Wii’s launch. From their site: As part of our launch coverage, we are asking readers to write a series of short pieces for the site about: why you decided to buy a Nintendo Wii how you feel as the launch-hour nears and, once you’ve finally got hold of your console, whether playing it lives up to your expectations So feel free to share your ...
