Kotaku unearthed something interesting today: Vail Christian High School in Colorado has been using Mario Kart to teach students the dangers of driving while distracted. Students are challenged to play Mario Kart Wii while sending and receiving text messages. “I ran into a lot of things and it was very stressful,” said 13 year old Alli O’Brian, “”I don’t think...
Not all of Mario’s power-ups came from question mark blocks.
Another interesting title from NIS brings a nice mixture of gothic macabre with anime-esque humor.
Developer Next Level Games must have studied Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out for years. Because they have recaptured the spirit of that classic game and revived it with slick presentation, tight controls, and fresh perspective in the all-new Punch-Out for Wii. It doesn’t happen often, but Punch-Out not only lives up to the hype of the original, it surpasses it.
Watch out for even numbered milestones, because Nintendo has set and followed up on a precedent: the “250th Virtual Console” release saw us the much awaited Super Mario RPG, and this week’s “300th Virtual Console release” brings us The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask! Virtual Console: The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask WiiWare: CRYSTAL DEFENDERS R2 Silver S...
Nintendo sent us the new Punch-Out for Wii today with an oversized screen of Little Mac on a black t-shirt and a little flyer that reads, “Hellz yeah, Little Mac is back!” We’ll be playing the game all day (just KO’d our calendars) and will have a final single-player and multiplayer verdict up shortly. Oh, and we’ll be giving away the shirt in addition to the game. No...
Activision, the world’s largest software-only video game publisher, revealed two peripheral-based games for Wii, Xbox 360, PS2, and PS3 today. Guitar Hero 5 will go head-to-head with Rock Band Beatles this fall. Tony Hawk Ride is being billed as a “reinvention” of the 10 year franchise that uses a new skateboard controller. Although both games were previously implied to be coming...
While researching E3’s past, I stumbled upon the above video. It is described as showing, “an idiot from a fansite asking Miyamoto the first question at Nintendo’s 2001 E3 press conference in unbelievably bad Japanese.” Reputedly after Miyamoto and company laughed off the embarrassment, the reporter repeated the ...
Great and interesting Wii news today, as I’ve loved Fallout 3 and its DLC. I just hope it’s not the huge, buggy mess that Bethesda titles have become known for in recent years.
Highlights this week include portable puzzler Puchi Puchi Virus for DS, Bloom Blox Party Bash for Wii, plus some more tracks for you Guitar fiends to play in Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero. We also have the launch of The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask on the Virtual Console, along with an Art Style game for the DSi and two tactical games for Wiiware. A good week of releases all around.
