Playing with power again: Nintendo having a heck of a run this holiday

After one of its worst years since the early ’80s, Nintendo is finishing strong these last couple of months by releasing really good games that are rewarded with strong sales. The company released the marvelous Zelda: Skyward Sword this month, followed by a strong Mario outing for 3DS. Up next: Mario Kart 7, which is also garnering very positive reviews early on. What’s more, Nintendo ...

Which is better: Mario 3D Land or Zelda Skyward Sword?

You already told us which you were anticipating most (spoiler: it was evenly split). For those who have played both games, which is better: Mario 3D Land or Zelda Skyward Sword. I’ve already gushed enough on the latter, so I think my pick is obvious. Which is yours? (And yes, they can both be great games, I’m just curious to know which one you’ve enjoyed more.)

Nintendo turning the ship around in time for holidays

I have been and still am critical of the 3DS. But it’s good to see Nintendo lining their pockets during the holidays with record Mario, 3DS, Zelda, and even Wii sales. In brief, 3DS has surpassed DS sales for the same period (although the former is not entirely out of the woods since DS started poorly). Super Mario 3D Land became the fastest selling Mario ever this weekend, helping to spur ...

A little Zelda music to go with your turducken on Thanksgiving mayhaps?

Gerudo Valley by Shag If you are enjoying Skyward Sword as much as we here at Infendo have been, you might like to know of a little project that hip hop artist going by the name of Shag has compiled. All of the tracks are music found in Ocarina of Time, but I find them extremely easy on the ear as I explore Skyloft and area below the clouds. Man am I enjoying Skyward Sword. Nothing beats a little...

If anyone needs me, I’m busy playing the greatest single player game ever

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. An hour in, hard-to-please players like myself will be a little underwhelmed, but things quickly pick up in the second hour. By hour five, you’ll know you’re playing something special. By hour seven, you’ll know you’re playing one of the best Zeldas of all time. By hour 10, you’ll know you’re playing the best Zelda ever. By ho...

Nintendo goes 7 of 8 on consoles: Newest Zelda latest to reach upper ’90 rating

With exception to Zelda II, the black sheep of the series, Nintendo has never released a Zelda game for consoles that went on to score less than a 95 in aggregate reviews. In fact, seven of a total eight console Zeldas have scored a rare 95 average or higher. Skyward Sword for Wii, currently at 95/100, is no exception. Simply put, the game is worthy of its nominally hot score. It’s quickly ...

What are you playing this weekend?

My journey on the surface of the Earth continues. What about you? What are you playing this weekend?

Miyamoto experimenting with 2D Zelda, may be bringing it to 3DS

A Link to the Past was the first game in the Zelda franchise that make me a lifelong fan of everything Hyrule. Sure, I had played the NES Legend of Zelda titles, but there was just something about the depth found the in SNES classic that really hit a homerun in my book. From the muli-leveled dungeons, to the collect-a-thon that was the 24 hidden pieces of heart, A Link to the Past had so much to o...

After first two dates, Zelda Skyward Sword overcomes most of its initial flaws

Zelda Skyward Sword starts slower than any other Zelda in recent memory. In fact, it took two dates with her before I decided I wanted to keep dating.

This Zelda reminiscing will make you smile

Great essay by Game Informer’s Jeff Cork on struggling to find a copy of the Legend of Zelda in 1987.

If this bullshot is real, it looks fantastic

New Zelda clone coming to iOS next year. The game, called Oceanhorn, is being made by an unknown Finnish developer. Still, provided they can get the animation and gameplay right, this could be a lot of fun’certainly something we may one day see on the Infendo Entertainment System. (Thanks, Mark)
