Fighting Fantasy: Warlock of Firetop Mountain
the Game the Book!

The Warlock of Firetop MountainAspyr just sent over a copy of Fighting Fantasy The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. Which is the book the upcoming DS game of the same name is based on. Fighting Fantasy is apparently a long series of choose your own adventure books that were really popular in Europe but never really caught on in the US.

The real attractive thing about this book is that you actually get to make a character. It’s like Dungeons and Dragons in a book, where you have a character sheet and skills that your make before reading the book. While this is really awesome hype of the game. I honestly can’t wait to get reading this being a Dungeons and Dragon junky.

The game is set to launch on October 12th.

It be cool if u wrote “turn to page 2 to slay dragons and view screenshots” or “turn to page 3 to look for sir henry and his companions in the forest of game trailers” maybe that too dorky, but cool

I use to inhale the Lone Wolf books. They had a similar thing where you put in stats and equipment and then did the book. So cool for a kid/teen.

Apparently the early ones are collectors items. I need to look in my collection. Thanks for the indirect reference, Infendo. You may have just made me some money. ūüėČ

Wasn’t this game in development for four years or something? It looks pretty good, like oblivion on the DS.

Will… you call yourself a D&D junkie and you didn’t know about these books? This is the 3rd time they’ve brought out these books (the 80’s were the original) and then again in 2002 (or so). These were staples for us D&D junkies back in the day! Not gaming with your buds? Ok time to open a book and go it alone!

Ahh good times… I have to pre-order this DS game to see how it compares to the book. Be ready for the sequel DS game called Return to Firetop Mountain is the sales warrant it. (Although I’d rather go for some Deathtrap Dungeon on the DS next!)

    @ King_Salamon

Dude I was Born in 87, and I was chat room DnD from 2000-2005 reading Dragonlance. I sat down and played Tabletop in 2008 and DM’d a game in 2009.

I was into Choose Your Own Adventures back in ’95. So basically, I missed them.

wow i find it hard to believe so many gamers here, and very few have experienced this great series of game books. yes, they have a ‘choose your own adventure’ element to them, but you also have pen, paper, and dice in hand, which makes it a lot deeper. in any case, do yourself a favor, and pick up read the ‘sorcery!’ series, 4 books in total. it’d be a great appetizer for this game. definitely worth your time.
