The future of gaming is a Gears of War 8/10 rating

The collective piling on (one could use much more graphic, vulgar terminology) that the review community has done with Gears of War has gotten my cynical side thinking again, and by that I mean more than the usual 24 hours a day. But instead of attacking GoW, I am going to use its popularity to show how the Wii is arriving at precisely the right time. First off, GoW is a great game. It is an actio...

Who is buying a Classic controller for Wii?

In a post Wii controller matrix world, I gotta ask: Who is buying a Classic controller for Wii? Since you can use GameCube pads, I’m not sure why you’d want to dump $20 on a glorified SNES controller, unless you dislike the GameCube/Wavebird wonder or Nintendo pulls a fast one on us not allowing GCN controller support for certain Wii games.

Red Steel TV commercial

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5utCdITPdU]Some readers got a bit worried when I described Red Steel’s dialogue as “campy,” so this video goes a long way in describing what I meant — it’s not a bad thing when I said that at all. Like I said before, think Hong Kong martial arts. Kudos to Ubisoft for not making another Wii commercial demo that has loopy teens j...

CNET’s "Worst tech Christmas" fails to mention Wii, DS lite

CNET’s “Is this the worst tech Christmas ever?” article today should probably cite itself. And then disappear. The author, who I can surmise must be nothing more than a thousand monkeys locked in a room with access to a thousand typewriters, says this might be the worst tech holiday season ever. Why? Because of things like the cancellation of the Microsoft Zune media player in Eu...

So long, GameCube – Epic video tribute

Infendo Forum fan, Jake Brandon (aka Hero of Time), created this epic and loving video tribute to the GameCube and its games. Take a break today and look back through the games that made the GameCube a cherished console for many. “So long, GameCube” is an Infendo GameCube salute and five-part series celebrating the final month before the launch of Wii. Part 1 – Part 2 – Par...

Tell the BBC what you think about Wii

The BBC is interested in what you think about Wii’s launch. From their site: As part of our launch coverage, we are asking readers to write a series of short pieces for the site about: why you decided to buy a Nintendo Wii how you feel as the launch-hour nears and, once you’ve finally got hold of your console, whether playing it lives up to your expectations So feel free to share your ...

Wii kiosk in action

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmAbOtzDbMM]I’m sure hundreds of these will start to pop up all over You Tube as the week progresses, but here’s some Wii in the wild footage from a kiosk (~6 mins long). Don’t mind the intro music. [Thanks, Neo]

Wii Launch Guide hits Best Buy

The Wii Launch Guide has hit Best Buy stores, and includes some sweet little coupons for $5 off a select few games, as well as a free Twilight Princess Strategy Guide if you purchase TP and Excite Truck on the same receipt. Not too shabby, as every little bit saved helps when you (read: me) plan on spending a small fortune in one shot on launch day. Via Gaming Bits: The back page has $5 off coupon...

Wii sits atop the heap in TIME Tech Buyer’s Guide 2006

Art imitates life or life imitates art, I can’t remember. Regardless, our second TIME Magazine themed post for the day is a bare bones guide to the three console systems that are out or will soon be out for the holiday season. Portable consoles are also included, but we know which one people will buy already now, don’t we? [Thanks, nilly nerdswerth]

Don’t forget to vote!

No, I’m not a day late — this vote is for TIME’s “Gadget of the Year!” Why is this news for Infendo? Well, because one of the gadgets just so happens to be the Nintendo DS! And, like GameStop when it talks about its $700 Wii unbreakable bundle, I love to use exclamation points to show I am excited! Anyway, go vote today if you haven’t already, because the DS is ...

Reggie says no final Wii secret

In an interview with CNET, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed there is no final Wii secret. For weeks now, there have been whispers that Reggie supposedly warned EB/Gamestop managers to brace for one final hardware secret. However, like a lot of Wii speculation over the past year, this rumor is just a lot of hot air. It’s too bad ”“ I was really hoping that hypnotic...

Pre-orders, camping, and Target numbers .. oh my! Seems like a lot of folks need to get their hands on a Wii next weekend. So this week, Infendo asks: Do you fear being unable to buy a Wii at launch? Yes, it haunts my dreams! No, there will be plenty to go around. Don’t care, I plan to wait before getting one. Don’t care, I’m never buying a Wii!    Free polls from Pollh...
