Mario shirt for $175 — cheap!

As I typed away on my diamond encrusted keyboard today sipping Cristal from a goblet encased in platinum on my rich smelling mahogany desk, I started wishing I had a Mario tee shirt from Dolce and Gabbana that I could buy at my local Saks Fifth Avenue. And it had to be at LEAST $150 bucks. Today was my lucky day, as they have a Mario tee for $175 available just in time for the Wii launch. I sent m...

WiiTV – first US commercial tonight!

Tonight during the performance finals of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Nintendo will air four 30-second commercials for Wii. The commercials feature two Japanese men who show up at homes across the United States and announce: “Wii would like to play.” Well, at least there’s no creepy baby head. The commercials will be posted to Nintendo.com and YouTube.com. The first place ...

Game Spy on Twilight Princess — perfection

Another review to pile onto Matt’s 1UP post on Twilight Princess: Game Spy gives TP 5 out of 5. If you’re worried about spoilers like I am, don’t worry with this one: “There will be no spoilers written here, but if you truly only need to know whether the game rocks hard, just take a look at the score and be safe in the knowledge that it does.” And, more on the ever-im...

Maddox endorses Wii as only Maddox can

All I’m going to say with this post is that Maddox, one of the most, um, outspoken and well-known Internet celebrities has endorsed the Wii, calling it Sony’s “younger, hotter sister.” That’s significant because this guy gets millions of hits, has his own book, and people — believe it or not — listen to his rants. The rest of the “endorsement” ...

1UP praises Twilight Princess’ Wii controls

For those of you who still have some concerns that the Wii version of Twilight Princess will suffer from tacked on controls that just feel “meh” considering the game was originally designed for the GameCube, 1UP has a good run-through of the game’s controls that just might cast your looming fears aside. According to the article, “For all the proclamations of doom, for all t...

TIME loves Wiil Wii Sports — "greatest videogame ever made"

Now now, TIME. You start talking like that and people are going to start calling you “Jack from Infendo.” Anyway, TIME writer Wilson Rothman took the Wii home to his family and the rest is history. And all it took was Wii Sports. “Wii Sports, a collection of cartoonish tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing scenarios, comes with the system. I had presumed that it was merely a...

Wii to get DVD playback in the US next year

GameDaily reports: “Nintendo of America has confirmed to GameDaily BIZ that a DVD-enabled Wii is indeed coming to the U.S. Previous reports suggested that this may have been a Japan-only promotion… Nintendo plans to launch this version of Wii some time in the latter half of 2007.” So even the Wii will have two SKU’s. What do you think of the news?

NPR report on Sony vs. Nintendo

Though they get launch prices wrong, NPR has a nice little audio report on the upcoming PS3 vs. Wii launch suggesting Sony as the underdog and what the launches mean for next-generation gaming. From the synopsis: “The PlayStation 3 and the Wii represent different strategies for achieving big holiday sales. The stakes are especially high for Sony, whose PlayStation Portable was trounced by th...
