2007 is really Wii’s first full year as a console. There are a lot of must-have games expected to come out in the next twelve months. Not everyone can buy everything that comes out, so this week we ask a sort of desert island question: If you could only buy one upcoming Wii game in ’07, it would be… WarioWare: Smooth Moves Mario Party 8 Super Mario Galaxy Metroid Prime 3 Super Sm...
Kotaku seems to think this is the infamous Link statue up for grabs in Nintendo of Canada’s latest contest. Might be, might not be. Regardless, I’d have this guy hunting pink flamingo lawn ornaments in my front yard if I could.
New VC titles hit today at 9 a.m. Pacific: Soldier Blade (TG-16) Dungeon Explorer (after a debugging delay last week, TG-16) Gradius (delicious, for NES) Not a great selection, but good, and it’s leaps and bounds above the infamous New Year’s VC massacre of 2007.
Like proprietary DVD formats, this wireless nunchuk rumor — to me anyway — appears to be a solution looking for a problem. Opposable Thumbs (ars technica) seems to agree with me, saying: “I’ve played a lot of Wii games, and a lot of those games use the Wiimote as well as the nunchuk. I tend to be fairly active when I Wii and I’m lucky to have a large, open living room...
As if lamps and other breakables weren’t already in danger enough from wayward Wiimote swings, now they have these plastic extensions from Futuretronics to worry about as well. I doubt they’ll make you get to PRO status any quicker, but that tennis extension, at the very least, looks like it’d be great for swatting flies.
CES is happening in Las Vegas this week, and both Sony and Nintendo have used the geeky atmosphere to promote their most up-to-date hardware numbers. In the blue corner (get it?) Sony said it has shipped 1 million consoles to North America since launch, and will hit 6 million shipped by March. The number, they say, confirms that all manufacturing woes have been overcome. In the red corner, Nintend...
A nod… Or is that a turd? Anyway, when I originally clicked this CVG article, I had Halo 2 on my mind, so I wasn’t at all surprised to find it there amongst the other sad sack endings for titles like Fable. But Super Mario Bros.? I guess I never really associated grandiose endings with first generation NES titles, but CVG makes a good point. After slogging it out through eight worlds o...
What happened to the last remaining first party GameCube titles that were never released? I’m talking about Super Paper Mario, Donkey Kong Bongo Blast, and the unnamed Kirby adventure game. While Super Paper Mario and DK Bongo Blast were confirmed to to be jumping ship from GameCube to Wii, I haven’t heard a word about the Kirby game. According to an IGN preview from 2005, Kirby sounde...
Now that most Hyrule fanatics have had a chance to play Twilight Princess (even though some of us are fighting to play it) do any of you miss the cel-shaded, cartoony Link featured in Wind Waker? I know I do. Don’t get me wrong. I love Twilight Princess’ realistic graphics, but there’s something about the doe-eyed Link that just gave off more expression and more emotion that trul...
Am I a complete sucker? Or is idiot a better word? Now hold on! Don’t go clicking on Comment yet. I haven’t even explained why I’m questioning my sucker/idiot status. I’ve realized that the Virtual Console is the perfect way for me to get all my favorite Nintendo games on one console. Because of this, I’ll gladly pay to download an old game that I already own. Let me ...
Infendo reader Brian J. provides today’s Nintendo Spotting feature, as well as a heart-warming Nintendo story from the holidays. Look at that pic. Classic. I just get all fuzzy inside at the sight of people zoning out to Mario Kart DS. [Via BrianJ’s blog]
