Modding maniac, Ben Heck, has waved his magic wand and created a portable Wii over at Engadget. The Wii Laptop includes a 7″ 16:9 LCD monitor, stereo speakers, and built-in sensor bar. They plan to have a step-by-step tutorial starting on Tuesday, so does anyone plan on portibilifying their Wii? [Image by Engadget, tip by Derek [thanks!]]
Get ’em before they’re gone. Shipping adds about $4-5 dollars.
Ars technica: “We know what we’re getting from Wario Ware titles: microgames shot at us at a machine-gun pace, using the best of whatever input device the game is put on. We started with a GBA game, added a tilt sensor, and then moved to the DS with Wario Ware Touched. The GameCube Wario Ware was a great party game, but unfortunately didn’t have any fun controllers to play with. ...
New research shows that playing video games can satisfy deep psychological needs and, at least in the short term, improve people’s well-being. No kidding, Reuters, I ascended a higher plain of existence ages ago when I found every star in Super Mario 64. “The more a game fulfilled a player’s sense of independence, achievement and connectedness to others, the more likely he or she...
BB over at 1P Start has created a visual guide to the various forms or positions you use in Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. If you’re playing the game and don’t want anything ruined, stay away. But if you still haven’t bought Wario Ware for your Nintendo Wii, this guide will give you a great indication of how crazy and fun the game is. I haven’t had much time to finish the 1-play...
From 4cr: A killer sketch of Link facing off with a skelly in “The Adventures of Link”
Dropping the Mario name from the franchise, January 25th will see a new release of “Picross DS” in Japan. A no-brainer for the franchise, the game will use the stylus to do everything from play the game (which is similar to a crossword puzzle with a picture), to drawing and creating custom picross puzzles. The game uses the Wifi connection for versus play with up to five participants a...
This is most awesome; a Japanese DJ that bumps the records while manipulating sounds using a Wii remote. Where the party at? [via Go Nintendo]
Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream is apparently going to reveal a new installment of a famous series. Other than that, nothing else is known about this mysterious sequel. Rampant speculation leads people to mention Pikmin, Donkey Kong, and (of course) Kid Icarus, among many others. What do you think it will be versus what you hope it will be? I’ll go first – think: Pikmin / hope: Chibi-...
A little Devil’s Advocate on the day via Slate: “The Wii, which is being marketed as the ideal system for newbies, made me feel like an incompetent novice. I don’t blame myself. The ugly truth is that the Wii’s already-legendary motion-detection system doesn’t work very well… For a console that wants to start a revolution, making users doubt their reflexes is a ...
Still haven’t dumped the GameCube for Wii yet? A little bird told Infendo that GameStop may be offering a special incentive for you. I was in Gamestop yesterday to trade in my Gamecube for a Wii (only $25 dollars), but the guy told me to wait until the 21st, because they’re doing a deal with Wii trade-ins – they’re giving $50 for a Gamecube towards the Wii (if they’re...
If we call Wii Sports the foundation of a house, then Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’07 is the unfinished first floor. Joystiq’s Zack Stern recently had some hands-on time with the title, and said it was a step up from Wii Sports golf with “a few caveats.” Graphics, as expected, were PS2-caliber (the screenshots in Joystiq’s post are absolutely atrocious). But then, as has als...
