El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron was most definitely one of the strangest, most beautiful games on display at last month’s E3 in Los Angeles. El Shaddai is a third-person action title developed by character designer Takeyasu Sawaki for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and is scheduled to release in a few weeks. Destructoid recently att...

Netflix hit the eShop today! After a quick download (free) and a couple of hours testing, I’m happy to report that the 3DS version of Netflix is fast, uses the dual screens well, and delivers–mostly–a very enjoyable, satisfying experience. Films and programs load briskly, and I experienced no buffering pauses during my viewing. The interface, very similar to the Wii version, allo...
In an interview with Industry Gamers, Eiji Aonuma discusses his wish to work on a non-Zelda title. Makes sense, Aonuma has been with the franchise since Ocarina of Time. Industry Gamers: Speaking of the personal side, do you wish at times that you could work on something other than Zelda? You’ve been sort of the go-to guy for the Zelda franchise for a long time now. Do you have a creative de...
To celebrate the ape’s 30th birthday and the release of his outstanding 1994 Game Boy title on the 3DS eShop, I’ve tried to pick the best Donkey Kong games of all-time. And I got a little help’if you want to call it that’from the ape himself. Watch the video for my picks. If you can stomach more, watch the second half for th...
Computer emulators and ROM games are fun for about 10 seconds. After that, you realize how sucky they are without official controllers. Enter Infinite NES Lives, a one man shop that hacks console controllers to work with USB and/or Wii. Other DIY methods and USB vendors exist, but Paul Molloy from Infinite NES prides himself on only using original controllers. The result? So good, you’ll l...
Kingdom Hearts 3D (Dream Drop Distance) was one of the first titles announced along side the 3DS when Nintendo lifted the curtains last summer. In an interview with Famitsu, Kingdom Hearts director and character designer Tetsuya Nomura reveals that the 3DS title is currently 40-50 percent complete. Not much about the title is known at present, at Nomura was very coy with Famitsu giving vague hints...

One of the most interesting features of the 3DS is its ability to play 3D video content. In the US, the only 3D video content to be found was a trailer for Green Lantern and a video feature jumping dogs. That is all about to change.
I’m sure I got burned in the 8, 16, and 32-bit days. But the one Nintendo game I most regret buying was Star Fox Adventures Assault for GameCube. Before plopping down for it, I hadn’t bought a Star Fox game game since the original gangster version for SNES. I thought it would similarly be fun. It wasn’t. It sucked. It was obviously intended for a much younger audience. $50’gon...
Portal is undoubtedly one of the most innovative titles to come along this generation, but imagine if the portal gun was an item in the next Zelda title. That’s exactly what the fine folks Dorkly have done, giving Link the power of portals with hilarious results. I have always wanted to take my favorite items from certain franchises into others, and what better place to start than with the p...
