Hungry Jack’s gives away suicidal Nintendo keychains

Kotaku said today that the Australian equivalent of Burger King is giving away Nintendo character keychains. Hungry Jack’s — as it is known Down Under — now has your choice of Mario, Luigi, Donkey King, Princess Toadstool and Yoshi. All of them appear to be hanging themselves. I don’t feel very hungry anymore.

Wii launch title total creeps to 29

Holy nostalgia Infendo, there’s classics coming to the Wii and DS! And when I say classics, I’m not talking SNES or NES, I’m talking MS-DOS, keyboard attached to the console Amiga and Commodore 64. And no, the fact that my neighbor and I played Commodore 64 as kids does not mean I’m a caveman. Anyway, the newsworthy portion isn’t that U.K.-based System 3 is developing...

The half-mark game of the year

This should have been posted a couple of weeks ago for a proper half-year mark, but alas, we missed it. Regardless, what’s your current game of the year pick for 2006? Metroid Prime Hunters? New Super Mario Bros.? Something else altogether? And with a slew of upcoming Wii titles, second-half picks are sure to change.

Report: Wii to sell for $200 (plus Infendo poll)

A Japanese financial prediction for Wii’s pricing suggests a $200 launch price. IGN writes: “Current exchange rates would put an equivalent US price at $170.00. However, console prices rarely convert according to exchange rates. At most, we can probable take this report to indicate an anticipated US price of under $200.” With so many predictions out there, I’ll be shocked w...

Wii strategy in a nutshell (or soundbite)

I know it’s not true, but I get the feeling that Reggie was instant messaging some talking points to American McGee during his interview with CVG (which will run in its entirety tomorrow). Here’s a sample: “The only truly next-gen console out there is the Wii. Everything else is just a video card and processor upgrade […] I sense that Nintendo is going to capture the hearts...

Wii voice-to-text feature for online play

Wii rumors these days are a dime a dozen, but they help the days go by as we feverishly await the announcement from Nintendo as to when we can expect to get the console. Then, when that happens we can start waiting all over again until launch day, when we will all wait in a line for 18 hours for one last stretch of time before, well, you know. This latest rumor is interesting however. I’m go...

DS ROM emulator spotted in the wild

Let me begin this post by saying “piracy is wrong.” That said, when I was in college my Mac G3 contained well over 500 NES and SNES ROMs and no less than 3 NES and SNES emulators. How they got there I haven’t a clue. Now it would appear I will *not* be adding another emulator to the pile as the No$GBA guys have cracked DS commercial ROMS so that they can run in emulated form. But...

Reggie Fils-Aime layeth the Nintendo smack down (again)

Is it just me, or can Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime single-handedly get people pumped up using nothing more than a newspaper Q&A? I never really got professional wrestling, but I think I do understand why the parallel has been drawn between Reggie and that form of entertainment. Doubt it? The man invented Pizza Hut Bigfoot pizza. Nuff said. With this interview from USA Today, I think Reg...

Hate To Kick A Company When It’s Down…

Sony’s worldwide studios president Phil Harrison recently revealed that more than 100 Playstation 3 games are currently in development. A list compiled on Wikipedia confirms, with sources, that more than 150 Wii games have been announced and are in development. This does not even include games that are in development but haven’t been announced! Both large companies, like Konami and Nam...

Win prizes by showing your love for Mario

In a press release today, Nintendo announced a Super Mario Bros. DS Lite giveaway. From the release: “To celebrate the tremendous popularity of New Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo DS, Nintendo teams up with the Buzznet online community to let Nintendo fans of all ages show their love for Super Mario Bros. Images can be funny, touching or embarrassing, but they all should involve one of the ma...

Retro file: Lode Runner to return to Japan for DS

Remember the days when Bomberman was a bad guy? No? Then you aren’t thinking back to the NES days of Lode Runner. But don’t fret, your secret Nintendo-fu weakness is safe with me, and I’m here to help. A new version of Lode Runner has been announced by Hudson Soft in Japan. This type of game doesn’t appear on its face to be too heavily dependent on dialogue, so the region f...
