ZombiU was announced today at the Ubisoft press conference, and although there wasn’t a drop of gameplay footage, the game is just another reason to be excited for Wii U when it launches later this year. In what has apparently taken the place of last year’s Killer Freaks From Outer Space, ZombiU will be a survival horror game that is being developed exclusively for Wii U. Being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, ZombiU will be one of seven games being developed for Wii U by Ubisoft.
Gameplay details are quite scarce at the moment, but we do know that the Wii U GamePad will be used as a survival kit known as the “Bug Out Bag.” The bag will contain items such as maps, tools, weapons, and supplies, all of which will be attained from devastated cityscapes in-game. The game will use unique features of the Wii U GamePad such as the gyroscope, camera, and touch screen.
ZombiU will take place in London in 2012, and will be filled to the brim with zombies. According to the trailer, it seems as if zombies have taken over much of the land, and humanity is on the brink of survival. If Ubisoft can pull this one off, Wii U already looks to have a stealer launch indeed.
Even though the only details from the game come from a pre-rendered cutscene shown above, with Ubisoft’s track record for working closely with Nintendo, I think we can expect good things from ZombiU.
More details will come as they become available.
