Youtube Tuesday – Developer’s Voice [Cave Story]

The long wait is finally over as Cave Story will appear on the Wii Shop Channel under the WiiWare tag next week. Cave Story is one of those games that is old school yet it feels refreshingly new. If you haven’t played it or heard anything about the game… I suggest you check out this video.

Any Cave Story fans excited about the games release next week?

An artist from New York. Will has been writing, designing, and loving video games since he was young. He has traveled across the United States, and parts of Canada in order to learn more about the world of gaming. After visiting E3 for the first time in 2009, he has vowed to return there and show off a game of his own. In his spare time he tinkers with electronics, programming, and of course collecting video games.

  1. Yes! Finally! I’ve beaten it countless times on PC. I’m looking forward to beating it once or twice more on the Wii.

  2. Dear god yes I’m excited! Been waiting patiently ever since the wii ware version was announced. even though Ive beaten the game on PC more then once.

  3. I’ve never played the PC version, but I’m very excited for the Wiiware version!

  4. I’ve never played it but it looks great so I think I’ll be one of those people he talks about that comes into the game knowing nothing at all.

  5. Just watched this last night on the Nintendo channel. Very cool.
I played a few levels on PC and a little bit on my Mac. The music, oh the music. I still get those tunes in my head though I haven’t played the game in months. I’ll be getting this.

    Quick aside…
Do people still avoid the Nintendo Channel because they have ‘big brother’ issues? I remember that coming up when the channel was announced.
Anyway, I love that channel, the Monster Hunter 3 stuff on there is pretty good. The trailers looked awesome and the commercials had me rolling. Just sayin’, I think more people should check that channel out if they haven’t.

  6. I’ll be getting this on Monday and supporting Nicalis since I’ve also been waiting for Night Game and La Mulana and I’m sure every sale counts for them since they’re a smaller studio.

  7. This game just goes to show what an amateur game designer has the potential to do. This game has entertained me in not only its game play, but the progress of seeing this game blossom into a full fledged phenomenon. I applaud the designer of this game and, being a game designer myself, hope to see my games come to shine just as much light as this one does.

  8. Cave Story is one of those little gems in your life that you can really appreciate the effort and time given to make this game. Pixel is a very inspirational man whom has dedicated much of his life to offer this FREE game, and now it’s being upgraded. Seeing Pixel work hand to hand with nintendo and getting paid for his long-earned efforts is great and should be refreshing to independent game developers.

When I played the PC version, there was this raw feeling of enjoyment, from the music to the gameplay to the very lively enemies and characters on screen. The story was very deep and emotional as well.

Please, do yourself a favor and play this game to completion.

  9. I actually haven’t played this game (despite Will’s many solicitations). However, what little he showed me exuded tons of charm. The music was catchy and the controls felt great but what stuck with me the most were the clever character names {like Curly Brace}. I don’t know why I never took the time to play it.
