Any logical gamer and Nintendo enthusiast probably already excepts the Wii as a more powerful GameCube with a totally new interface. Well now we hear the same straight from the mouth of Miyamoto during an interview:
“The hardware is basically a GC. We’ve upgraded our development tools to new versions but, you can still use GC programs as they are. With that in mind, I thought we could remake GC titles for the Wii and modify them to work with the Wii remote so that they’re more fun to play.”
That’s not to say Wii can’t progress graphically (and it has/will) as Miyamoto stated in the same interview. Note: Nintendo also thought they could remake (and create new) SNES titles for the GBA, and N64 games for the DS. Both portables use inferior, dated graphical technology with a twist. Did it work (both financially and for gamer enjoyment)? I don’t even have to answer that.
