GameDaily explores how the gaming industry might be without Nintendo. While the article cites interesting points such as “less PC ROMs” and the possible lack of entire genres and game mascots altogether, I think they’ve seriously missed some key influences of what Nintendo has done for video games across the board. The company is the father of modern video games, period. I don’t know how they do it, and this is not to say that other game developers haven’t done the same to some extent, but Nintendo consistently delivers the highest number of top-tier games.
But what if Nintendo didn’t exist? Why, there would be no Infendo, chaps and ladies! (end shameless self plug) But seriously, and in the most logical fashion, what would video games be like without Nintendo?
