Twisted Fusion – heading exclusively to Wii U

Sorry to play sly on this one for so long, but today I can confirm I have been working on 2D platformer Twisted Fusion for the last 6 months, headed exclusively to the Wii U eShop!

The game is in early development and will be hitting Kickstarter next week to help fund the necessities, such as dev kit, game assets and fees.

You play as Cora the star of Twisted Fusion, after finding herself in a strange world, you only have your duel water pistols for defence. Luckily water is a powerful element in this strange land, and just the thing she happens to be in possession of. Your objective now is to find a way back home, but before you stands a foe shrouded in darkness, terrorizing the local population.

Twisted Fusion is a ‘Open Platformer’ you play in one big connected world and can tackle obstacles in the order of your choosing. Their is also a ongoing day/night system which along with making the environments look different can effect how you play. Bigger enemies will venture out at night so plan your route carefully. In addition rain will enrage enemies so keep your distance when things get too wet.

Please note all screen are from early development. Let us know what you think of this new, Wii U exclusive project!

  1. Interesting. Are you doing it entirely yourself, or do you have some small team doing specific aspects of it?

Btw, her face KINDA reminds me of Korra. Which makes her name being Cora hilarious to me.

  2. I’m the designer/developer, HitmanN is doing the awesome Sprite work and 2D special effects, promo anime art done by Nouin and Jon Adamich is doing the OST. By the time the game is completed (and depending on how successful the Kickstarter is there will be more people to.

As for similarities to Korra, I actually had too Google as I’m not familiar, I’ve been using Cora in my mobile games over the last 8 years and beyond with my PC projects – however maybe the artist had Korra in mind in this particular rendition of Cora! 🙂

  3. Might want to clarify this at some outlets, Lewis. Places like Nintendo World Report are saying the entire game’s worked on by only you.

That said, I’m excited! If I’m being entirely honest, the stark contrast between the art above and the actual screenshots surprised me a bit — the former gave me the immediate impression that the visual style wouldn’t be pixelated or anything. That obsessive nitpicking aside, open world platforming? Hell yes.

  4. Ok, well that’s cool! So far, it’s lookin’ pretty good, hope it turns out well for ya! 😀

  5. Looks promising.

  6. Sounds pretty legit. Hope to see it do well so I can download it.

It looks like the resident news poster on Miiverse, Wii U News, got wind of it too. Maybe you can jump in and tell them what’s good lol.

  7. @Lewis Pugh: Interesting! Would you be up for doing an interview over at once the Kickstarter campaign goes live? Be sure to follow me @EdEN_Zr to get things started!

  8. Congrats. Screen shots look real nice.
