There was the tiniest of external hard drive rumors scampering about the floor over the weekend, but Nintendo quickly stomped that out existence. Then they did the ol’ bait and switch and left a little DS rumor in its place. Nintendo has denied suggestions that an external hard drive is currently in development for the Wii – but confirmed that a new peripheral is on the way for DS. The...
Via Siliconera: During the Nintendo keynote Shigeru Miyamoto mentioned that a new voting channel where people can vote on their favorite Miis was in the works. A message was sent to Japanese Wiis with the date of the new channel, April 29. In the channel players can pick one of two Miis as their favorite and results will be shown online, similar to the Everybody Votes channel. Are you ready? Are y...
Normally I’d dismiss this tip to Infendo as a “just because it happens to you don’t mean it happens to everyone” event, but because it’s theJON I’m listening: “I got a job at my local Gamestop recently and last week, the Nintendo Rep stopped by and talked to us a bit about the Wii and DS (and how our kiosks weren’t on). One of the things he told us w...
Matt C. is having some fun with the rumor mill again, but who knows what the heck it means or if it has an semblance of truth to it, right? “There are some potentially crazy-awesome games coming down the pipeline for Wii, by the way. You guys have no idea. I know that’s vague — has to be, but I’ve seen some stuff that you simply have no idea even exists and frankly, if you ...
The Perrin Kaplan Show continues in earnest (Matt C is nowhere to be seen in this interview, however): BIZ: Why is Nintendo planning on releasing a DVD enabled Wii so long after the launch of the console? I don’t think many people will care. What’s the point? PK: I think it’s just to give them a choice. We’ve not yet come out with a firm date; we haven’t talked about ...
Aeropause is reporting today (Gamasutra)that Capcom is set to flood the Wii with, well, something: Gamsautra: Are the games being developed for the Wii going to be exclusives or re-imagined ports from other platforms? CB: It’s a good question… Capcom has to balance its content between some of its established brands that may come over to different platforms ”“ obviously we have a track ...
Sadness, everyone’s favorite non-existent/totally existent game from Nibris, now has a story line: Players take the role of a lady known as Maria, a survivor of a major train disaster. Alexander, her younger brother, was blinded during the crash and begins to act strangely. The siblings use their environment to try and survive. In other news, there was a Big Foot sighting in the Montana wild...
Everyone talks about the potential of Wii Channels — what could come to be, what’s already here; how wild ideas will probably never see the light of day but sound really, really cool (Wii Cricket Channel, anyone?). The reason I ramble today is that IGN Wii has some slick mock-ups on their site today of pipe dream future Wii channels. Examples include the Wii Stock Channel, Sports Chann...
Chris Kohler over at Game|Life talks Konami games on the Wii: “Should we prepare for the Konami flood on Wii? The word on the street, the latest rumor, is that the publisher will announce “a bunch of” games for Nintendo’s console this week. Given that their first title was Elebits, might we be looking at more new franchises? Or might they bring some of their hit properties ...
Cubed is reporting that the first new colors for the Wii console will be … RED and BLACK! Thanks for playing lime green, but today was not your day. This is almost a rumor of a rumor at this point, but it’s fun to speculate. What color does Nintendo need to introduce this year to really get things going?
GameDrift claims that Nintendo has confirmed to them that new Wii colors will be available by the end of the year. While new colors before Holiday Season 2007 might seem likely, I highly doubt that Nintendo has chosen GameDrift to announce this. Especially suspicious is the “anonymous Nintendo rep” part of their story. I doubt that any of Nintendo’s reps are ever of the anonymous...
