IGN has the scoop on Japanese gaming mag Famitsu’s latest edition revealing that Masahiro Sakurai, formerly of HAL Labs, will be working on Super Smash Bros Revolution. Sakurai was involved with Super Smash Bros Melee but left Nintendo’s HAL Lab to head up his own company. It came as a surprise when Nintendo top-man Iwata asked him at E3 to take part in Smash Bros for the Revolution.
Sakuai’s late involvement may mean that Smash Bros won’t be a launch title for the Revolution.

SSBM was one of the best games on the GC. More SSB is exactly what I want.

Are you kidding me?! No way, man! Nintendo’s prob had him directing it since Iwata asked him to be involved (at E3?). And even if he did just get the position now, we’re looking at approx 8 months dev time the least. As quick and easy as it is to dev for Rev, that sounds like just enough time.

No such thing. Don’t spread rumors.
