A quick confession: I watch more TV shows and movies on my Xbox 360 than I play games. I don’t know why this is exactly. I guess I can only play a game where I’m shooting things so many times before I realize, hey, I’m still playing games where I’m shooting things.
But anyway. More seriously, and more apt for this site, Netflix is rumored to be eyeing both the iPhone and the Wii for video streaming.
A new player is about to enter the arena: Netflix itself, who intends to bring “Watch Instantly” video streaming to the iPhone/iPod touch and the Nintendo Wii. At present Netflix streams over 12,000 movies and TV shows over a large variety of devices including Intel-based Macs.
I say bring it on. The future of video gaming and video is embedded exclusively in the Internet, and having this functionality on the Wii (while admittedly not in HD), would be convenient for many families. Let’s just hope you don’t need Friend Codes to watch movies.
