Aside from being a lifelong fan of Nintendo, I myself have an undying love for the sport of hockey. Out of sheer surprise, the two loves of my life crossed paths last night.
While in the second intermission of a Western Conference Divisional Playoff game between the Chicago Blackhawks and my hometown St. Louis Blues, I saw in the distance a man wearing a green jersey. At first glance, I figured it to be a Minnesota Wild or Dallas Stars fan looking lost in a sea of blue. Upon further inspection, I quickly noticed a Hylian shield symbol and the number 86 on both arms of the sweater. My eyes widened and went from a stern grin to a look of sheer happiness. It was a Zelda-inspired hockey jersey.
I quickly sought out the stranger, shook his hand, and asked who was on the back of the jersey. The man turned around, and no shock, it was Link stitched onto the back. For someone who I wasn’t sure what team he was rooting for that night at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, it was apparent he was ripe with Zelda passion.
After a quick Google search after the game (a triple overtime affair that night made me initially forget where the stranger had purchased the custom jersey), I found out that one site is responsible for this unique Zelda collectable.
